When corners like the 130R are flat and Eau Rouge Aero grip should be stripped. Read Patrick Head on Jacques in 96 when they warned him their car couldn't take the 130R flat and he got pole doing it where Hill backed off.

Those corners should always be about bravery, but they don't want any kind of accidents so it's far safer to just have them flat. 130R hasn't been a compromise since about 96 sadly. The last 6 or 7 years has been the worst period in my F1 history.

Someone on Twitter (DarcyF1 or Sean Kelly) said that someone saw that his tyres were slightly damp after the start.

I missed the replay or his start so I've no idea if it was wheelspin or bogging down.

Sounded like he bogged down, others behind were fine. He's given himself a lot of work now and has to rely on a Rosberg poor race/dnf now.

130R still wasn't flat until about 1/3 of the way through the race. Eau Rouge is the same, it's not flat until the cars are lighter.

Sadly Blanchimont is the big-balls corner which been spoiled the most, as it is now always flat in the dry and with massive run-off too.

130R was the same up until 2003, after McNish went through the wall in 2002.

Yes it's still been flat way before 2003, my example was qualifying. When the cars were lightest and Eau Rouge and 130R were flat way before 2003. That's were the compromise should be, when the bravest and fastest get's pole.

Another near perfect season from Mercedes. Looks like next year could be a little tougher for them though.

Another perfect weekend from Rosberg too. Hamilton has a lot to do, but I still wouldn't write him off.

So what is it with these terrible starts? Not just Lewis but up and down the grid. I know they took away the wizadry to get the drivers to do it themselves but is it killing some races for us? i.e. today the only proper challenger to Rosberg would have been Hamilton and he had a **** start and that went away. Or do we look at it the other way and say that it makes races more exciting? I don't know myself. It just seems pot luck these days whether they are going to get a decent start or not now.

Great comeback by Hamilton and a great race from both Ferrari drivers too, but Ferrari must have hired Williams's strategy department and then appointed a work experience kid to oversee them.
.

Did he have any trouble at all over taking anyone at all?

Perez's car wasnt performing in the 1st stint and was a relatively easy move and the rest was plain sailing (by strategy in the pits etc)

Hamilton hardly had to do anything at all to get 3rd today.

Hardest thing he had was keeping Vettel behind him for 2 or 3 laps

i thought Lauda said that it came up as being investigated on the tv, did it not?
Neither driver could make it today so it looks like it will be reviewed in two weeks (to be honest if neither driver can be bothered, it sounds a little like a "non" issue - otherwise they would want it reviewing immediately)

Personally thought LH was too far behind to make it (without crashing into the RBR) anyway (thought Rosberg was closer to Kimi a few races back when NR got penalised) , either way will find out next race

If a driver cant get the car away from the grid in dry conditions on a slightly damp track (even after the marshalls attempted to dry his spot before the race) whats he doing there in the first place :)

It has kept the championship open, but it has killed at least a couple of races this year imo.

Perhaps he should just learn to hook it up properly. It's better having the driver do the work.

Good race. Hamilton has a mammoth task ahead of him- will be a very interesting end of season watching either some very smart driving or total implosion.

i am for it. If Rosberg can manage it and manage it he does then Lewis has no one to blame but himself. if we make everything automatic for these millionaire drivers then why not have the pits take automatic control of the car when it enters the pits to ensure it never fails to stop on its skid blocks. fully unassisted starts are fine.
