Jeff Bezos

It's truly fascinating how every thread has to end up being about this irrelevant culture war. I will say this though, the lack of ethical considerations in the shareholder-above-all-mantra of the last few decades has created an exceptionally angry workforce and subsequently a very brittle society.

**** gon' get ****** up, just how it is and it has very little to do with how radical or reactionary our culture is... and everything to do with the lies that keep being told about the economy.

The fruits of the long march of a certain degenerate ideology are now really starting to bear fruit.

This is apparently the official twitter account of the Chicago Teachers Union

Pehaps the union representing teachers should spend less time reading critical theory nonsence and actually learn something by finding out what happened to the first bunch of people who keenly advocated for the use of the guillotine in the revolution the device is best known for....
The protest, organized to demand a $30 minimum wage for Amazon workers,
£30 an hour (£1,200 for 40hours) there not asking for much are they

But that blonde looks worth it :D:p:D:p

I dont mind his wealth as long as he is taxed to an extent which he isnt. I am also not keen on the way he treats employees. My friend who works at an amazon warehouse sometimes does a marathon a day for f all basically

Him and Zuckerberg account for an awful lot of what's wrong with the world in the past 20 years... Yet idiots respect and applaud them purely because they have made money? Jesus ****....

They play by the rules, it's the rules that are the problem.

In another few years when they realise they are better organised and more powerful than most national governments they will make the rules, if not already....

You see those lists ranking a nations soft power but really Facebook/Twitter and other media corporations have way more, they can control the flow of information and information is power. They can decide who gets elected by censoring and suppressing stories as we've already seen with Biden and vilify any candidate they don't control. They can manipulate the masses through control of information and if anyone threatens their narrative they can just ban them or stop them from reaching people through algorithmic suppression.

They're a private company they can do what they want innit.

Amazon pays market rate or above for their workers, and they employ around 600,000 people - that's a lot of jobs that put food on the table and pay the rent. They also kept delivering goods to peoples homes for the entirety of the pandemic. But oh yes, Jess Bezos is rich grrr

They can influence a demographic of people but they certainly don't decide who gets elected.

None of what you’ve said has been disputed, doing the bare minimum legally required shouldn’t invoke praise.

Jeff Bezos wasn't legally required to set up a business which employs 600,000 people, as well as set up a same or next day delivery logistics chain for thousands of goods keeping people supplied during a pandemic. The actual level of entitlement you have is staggering. You absolutely take for granted the quality of life we have in the West, a majority part of which is down to private businesses. Guess what type of company made all the vaccines for Covid19? Oh yes, the private pharmaceutical sector did. You'll also begrudge them a profit no doubt.

Ah yes, there is truly no such thing as a society, businesses operate in an absolute void, how could I forget.

If Amazon hadn’t come along then no one would be able to shop ever because there would be zero replacement at all, ever, and it is only us in the west that experience the such great heights of... online shopping. The other wealthy countries across the world will never know such glory.

they pay minimum wage and work them to death, and the minimum wage in this country isn't enough to live on. your taxes are subsidising his billions in profit, never mind him actually reversing that situation by paying some tax.

if bezos didn't do it someone else would have. you cant just let a massive multi national leech of the country. we have t have limits.

I looked up Amazon warehouse jobs and its above minimum wage, by quite a bit if you work nights and take overtime. Stop lying to make a point. They aren't using slave labour they're giving lots of people jobs, if the jobs were so bad no one would work there

My mate who is an Amazon delivery driver says he earns way more than his band 5 Nurse wife and that's per hour.
He also works way more hours and earns a lot of money.

Ah yes people would definitely make themselves homeless and starve to death rather than work in a rubbish job that could be improved with a simple corporation tax. People totally have that freedom.

Corporation Tax is only paid on profits.

If Income Tax worked like Corporation Tax, you would only be taxed on the money you could afford to save after all your bills were paid.

No company has ever gone bust because of Corporation Tax.

Taxing amazon means they won't be able to ship money to Luxembourg.
