At the end of the day though, what could they do about it? Their only options would be to either stop advertising their cars in protest or advertise on smaller channels with less viewers, both of which would be more damaging to themselves than the channel.

It'd work the other way, advert negotiation would then include money for adverts with an unofficial uplift amount should their new model recieve a very favourable review on the next episode. With that you enter the realms of having no faith in any sense of impartiality from the show.

That being said, Top Gear hasn't been in the business of serious reviews for many years so it shouldn't matter really
