Talking about conspiracies here, there really was, a massive conspiracy to keep quiet over Jimmy Savilles abuses.

Conspiracy? Not really... Surely more just a lack of motivation within the right people/organisations? A lot of people had an idea something was not right, and rumours were afoot in some areas, but unfortunately there wasn't the right mindset amongst the right people to do anything about it

There's a difference between a conspiracy and people acting in their own self interest. They may look alike 30 years later but that doesn't change one into the other.

Of course this is only about the semantics of the word "conspiracy".

Whatever has driven this out to begin with surely wasn't part of an agenda many years ago. It's not like it has suddenly been wrong to abuse children, or anyone for that matter. Something could have well been done about this long, long ago.

Absolutely, but this doesn't make it a conspiracy, and certaintly not the huge conspiracy being proposed by some folks here!

IMHO - It's a failing of systems, different values and mind-sets, and people simply watching out for their own jobs/backs.

Mr Travis earlier this month denied that he had groped two former BBC workers saying that it was a “different world” in the 1970s. One of his alleged victims, the newsreader Vivien Creegor, accused him of fondling her breasts while she was live on Radio 4 in the 1970s.

Another woman, who has not been named, said that Mr Travis invited her to his studio in 1977 and put his hand up her skirt.

Mr Travis denied the allegations last month and said that he was happy to speak to police about the accusations. “It was a different world in the 70s – all institutions were the same back then,” he said.
