Job Interview :: Dress Code Advice

I turned up for my first interview in a 400 quid suit (lent from my dad)

Always wear a suit for a job interview, I've had this drilled into me my whole life :)

Although I was once interviewed on the spot in jeans and a polo top (I had been biking round looking for job vacancies, and this restaurant offered me one there and then :D)

But yeah, first impressions are the most important!

Why a man ever asks about what to wear to an interview (unless told otherwise) is a mystery.

We got it easy, a suit, the only variable is how much you spend, which to be perfectly honest most men can't even notice anyway.

It'd help to know how much to spend if you were being interviewed by a woman, but tbh unless you are cute that won't help much.

A suit
a FULL suit that is, I once didn't get a job because I didn't ware the jacket, it was the hottest day of the summer and had left it in the car.
felt like a tool after.

100% suit.

I work in an office with no dress code and everyone just turns up wearing jeans and t-shirts etc.

However when holding interviews recently one of the candidates turned up wearing similar attire rather than a suit. The bosses' reaction was:

"Pfft that bloke couldn't even be bothered to make an effort and dress smart for his interview."

He didn't get the job.

The next person that asks what appropriate interview attire is should be probated.

The answer is a suit. If you don't believe everyone saying this, the answer is still a suit and you should revise your opinion. Continue to do this until you believe that a suit is the appropriate attire.
