John Terry Racism Trial

Did anyone really expect a sensible, balanced outcome? Hopefully the FA finally sort out their rules and set some lengths of ban that proportionately reflect deliberate violent misconduct vs non-deliberate bad challenges vs use racist language vs use other non-racist abusive language, but I doubt they will and we'll be treated to another shambles in future.

Also, how can the FA fine players legally? I thought fines could only be applied by judges and magistrates according to law, but civil litigants can only claim compensation to the extent that they have been harmed and may not make a profit. £220K is shocking even in the context of elite players' earnings, it looks like the FA are making a lot of money here, so why are they allowed to?

I expected a ban of anything from 6-12 games and a much smaller fine.

4 match ban but the dirty south american gets 8 without evidence of even saying it offensively lmao
Let it go, you make so many posts saying the exact same thing and nothing is going to change your or anyone else's opinion on Suarez and the handling of the incident.

Im sure he would have got a 8 match ban if Anton Ferdinand was a Man Utd player. I see David Gill has arranged it so that when Terry is banned he will miss the Man Utd game. It must be great when your Chief Executive is on the FA board as well.

Guilty in the FA, yet not guilty in a court of law.... ok?

Only 4 games as well? FA in being bent shocker.

he went to tribunal and was fined, although the FA decided that his comment wasn't racist, despite everybody else in the world knowing that it was

So... According to the FA, calling someone the 'n' word is twice as bad as calling them a '*No disguised swearing*'

Amazing.

Terrible decision.

Apparently it's called justice. One really couldn't anything else from that bunch of jokers.

I didn't see many people complaining when somebody else was found guilty under the FA's rules.

And for those asking why he's only got a 4 match ban. It's a 2 match ban for using abusive language, it's then doubled if there's a mention of race, religion etc and can be further increased if there's other aggravating factors. In Suarez's case, his ban was increased because of it being such a high profile incident which brought embarrassment on the FA and because of the amount of times he said it (which seemed slightly dubious to say the least).

John Terry and Chelsea are small time so it's not really a high profile incident so that's not a aggravating factor and he was only accused of insulting Ferdinand once so that too isn't a factor to increase his ban.

I still don't understand how people are failing to understand how that in a court of law he can be found 'not guilty' but yet the FA can punish him?

Honestly it's quite simple.

Nevertheless it should be a longer game ban if the FA actually want to have any sort of consistency.

Swearing at a camera, 2 game ban.

Racist insults, 8 game ban.

Unless you're John Terry, who only gets 4 games.

Swearing at a camera, 2 game ban.

Maybe used Racist insults, 8 game ban.

Unless you're John Terry, who only gets 4 games.

3 game ban for being involved in a two footed tackle by Jonny Evans

Don't understand why the fine is so high though

Fine is easy to understand, it's based on your wage. Suarez got 40'000 because at the time he wasn't on much less then that.

I'd have thought a minium 8 game ban for Terry.

Too much to ask for consitency from the FA.
