John Wick - Chapter 4

good .. long winded .. but used the tactical suit thing way to much and some of those fight scenes you can tell hes getting old ..

The suits were plain daft. We’re supposed to believe the world’s top assassin can’t make a headshot inside about 6 feet.

Watched it 4dx earlier, with the run time of this was starting to get bit painful towards the end.

Some of the set pieces felt too long and the Wick films usually do good with the fight scenes to not make it look as scripted but this one let it down slightly with people waiting to get hit etc, always good seeing more of the world / lore and I hope that we can get a spin off with new characters set in the world.

Just got back from seeing it, superb film with a surprising amount of humour thrown in. Didn't really notice the run time until the last 20 minutes or so, particularly the climb up the stairs. If I was to nitpick it would probably be that element didnt need to be that long, when he rolled back down the stairs for the 3rd time I did eye roll. Big shout out to Scott Adkins, stole the film for me, great stuff. As someone posted above the top down action sequence was a thing of beauty and looked fantastic. 8/10 maybe 8.5 for me.

Good new then, they are working on a series set in the continental and a Ballerina series currently underway with Ana de Armas in the lead role.

continental is a limited series is going to be 3 episodes long and will take place in the 70's. Ballerina is in production, with lance reddick and keave reeves have completed filming there scene for it. it suppose to be take place between chapter 2 / 3 or chapter 3 / 4 don't know which one.

It scored itself - John Wick 4/10

It was just fighting all the time, how many times do you need to see 5 body shots, a takedown and then a headshot? 400 times apparently.

Jesus Christ haha

I've just survived John wick 4

But I feel like I've been hit by 30 cars , several 100 bullets and thrown off 50 balconies.

The sacred cour stairs scenes actually had me in tears of laughter..

Lol....

Not sure how to approach life after this, everyone is a hitman or techno dancer.

Its a good film but for god sake if you try to analyse it, you're doing it wrong. Suspend belief and science and get a partial lobotomy

I recall myself (and other posters here) getting bored in the cinema when watching the the third film, just too much fighting going on with not enough counter-drama. That was a little over 2 hours, so my entry point to watch the fourth film at the cinema was ‘needs to be under 2 hours’.

Unbelievably, the fourth film is actually close to 3 hours - my god! Why does it need to be that long?! With people in here already saying it’s too long, it looks like one to miss.

3 bored me to tears especially the end .
4 spreads out the longness imo (lol)
Some scenes start to feel long but then mercifully end.
It's a very fine line.....

Zero interest in a rewatch.

The nunchuck fight especially. Around the glass displays. It was almost comical when it "ends" for the fifth time and he dusts himself off, only for another group of generic baddies to run in. Rinse and repeat. Yawn.

I don't think there is much slo-mo in it...

Just came back from the cinema. Some nice cinematography but John Wicks motive isn't that compelling anymore and he doesn't really say much either. Yes the action is good, but diminishing returns after watching similar sequences in chapters 1, 2 and 3....

I did really like the overhead 'Hotline miami' style sequence with the dragos breath rounds.

The staircase scene was comical, but was clearly meant to be. It could have done with a bit more of that style humor IMO.

John wick getting hit by 6+ cars, using his suit jacket as a shield and diving off yet another building and landing badly on a camper van and walking away does also start to get old.

I know it's supposed to be silly action fun (a blind assassin!) But it does wear thin at times.

Having said all that, it was better than chapter 3 and picked up towards the end.

Strange to see so much dislike for 3, it's genuinely one of my favorite action movies of all time. It knows what it wants to be and embraces it fully, especially after 2 which feels practically po-faced by comparison. I genuinely don't know what more you could possibly want from a film after seeing some of the action set pieces in 3.

Likely seeing the 4th this weekend. Very much buying into the hype.

The fight scenes are technically better, I particularly liked the knife fight after the visit to the doctors, but I thought the World building just became a bit too much.

Ripping his ticket, Angelica Houston, The Elder, cutting off his own finger etc.

Aye, I'll admit that it's world building purely for the sake of some new set dressing, but the action is so impressive that it doesn't really bother me. I guess it's a question of how much you decide to look past.
