Joining the army

i personally wouldn;t join the uk army, too many rules and regulations. eastern armies are less strict about you putting bullets in peoples heads. don't have to fill out any paper work either when you kill someone.

Because you're just itching to get into your DPMs and go running around capping people? No more CSS for you boy :D

But yeah I agree if your looking for an army career then The Royal Marines is the only way to imo.

The Royal Marines are part of the Navy, NOT the Army.

yeah but if u join the raf its cos u want eb a pilot really

because planes maintain themselves, moron pilots don't need to be told when to land and not, they don't need crash wagons, need I go on?

second thoughts, the firetrucks are civilian

a fireman at RAF Lossiemouth, he definitely told me that he was civilian.
Fine the RAF pays him I assume, but he hasn't done basic training or whatever it is, they don't have ranks. Its just a civilian job on an RAF base.

Weird distinction I guess?

He would probably be Defence Fire Service, a MOD firefighter. The DFS personnel train in exactly the same way as Local authority fire and civil defence brigades. RAF personnel tend to specialise in Aircraft Firefighting and crash rescue.

Lossiemouth is the UKs busiest fast jet base, he definitely specialised in aircraft firefighting, he had a huge photo album of crashed planes they happily showed us. He drove the big ass firetrucks with the extra water capacity for airplane fires.

yeh I can see plenty of evidence of that on the web. Plus you couldn't get civilian firefighters to go work abroad.
I'm just confused now. I'll put it down to another unanswered RAF question

Anyone know why RAF ambulances are such weird shapes? The major error in their design seems to be that you can't stand up inside them.

I'm considering applying to join the army.

Was going to do it when i was 18 (Now 23) but stuck with my job and slowly worked my way up a bit (Work for local government)

The only thing worrying me a bit is i wear glasses or contacts (Contacts when doing pysical activity like my thai boxing)

Do you think wearing either would be a problem in the army?
Ask down your local Army Careers Office. They'll tell you either way what jobs you can/can't do in the Army.

edit:
Violent_J, your sig is comical. That's the same make/model as what my mum drives, is that a 1ltr as well?
