Last time i got some flowers delivered to my misses work place,I also put a brandnew nokia N95 8Gb mobile phone in the box....
(She was over the moon with it,and she kept phoning me every 5mins for the rest of the day)
 
I went in Ann Summers once. Not for underwear but for a sex toy for the wife (back when we had sex :p ) and without dropping a beat the woman in the shop said: "Does she prefer hard or soft?"

La Senza is about the only place left on the high street which is dedicated and affordable. A lot of their bras can be a bit synthetic-feeling, mind. However, usually lots of choice.

I've also heard good things about Bravissimo but never actually happened upon one.

If his or anyones answer was hard, get the durex wand with other little bits and bobs from their website, then email them when it comes and say the packaging says its got a soft tip but its hard, and is this supposed to be the case, they WILL give you your money back :p free hard play thing anyone? :d
I did this when I got my gf one for her bday(it was in the sale for £11), It wasnt what I was expecting and they refunded my card ;)
 
Her workplace is quite intimate with its security too, they would probably be dead by the time they got to her.

Oi PK!, talk about make me out to be a cheapskate. Oh wait, I already got supermarket flowers :D
