Now, i know you can still sign on if you work less than 16 hours per week and they top up your income if it is less than the JSA weekly allowance of £50.90 odd, thing is i have been offered a weekend job of 14 hours working out at £81 roughly i will earn per week.

What will be the point in me signing on? Is there no other benefits i would be entitaled too, till i can find weekday work as well?

Thanks

You'll be credited with national insurance contributions towards a state pension. Since your job doesn't seem to earn you enough to pay these it wouldn't be a bad idea signing on...

lets say you have a job paying 81 a week, you sign on, you need to sign off every 4 weeks for a week and then sign back on.
you need to ask them how it would effect you if you lost the job, what happens is they deduct anything over £50 per week for as long as you have worked.
Example if you worked 10 week getting £81 per week, then on the 10th week you you lost your job and just keep sign on , week 11, you'll only get 50-31 for 10 weeks. So you really need to sign on and off every 4 weeks.

aswell as stuff mentioned you will still be eligible for things like council tax benefit and council paying some of your rent etc if you keep signing on

the council always turn these into mass hassle if your not signing on

Dont suppose they could pay part of my rent if im still living at home?
If i showed them some sort of rent agreement?

So are we back on with the state pension then or will it of disappeared by retirement age, I tend to get confused with it :)

By the time I reach state pension age, I'm pretty confident that either; a) there won't be a state pension anymore or more likely b) I won't be eligible for it because I've worked all my life and saved into a private pension scheme!!!

It's cash under the matress time later in my life I can tell.

I suppose if you didn't tell them that you were living at your folks address and had a proper rent book it might work, I got it for renting a room off a mate.

Nope, if you live with any family then they wont help you.

I'm on JSA and cant pay my rent to my uncle so he said he couldnt keep me so now i'm moving into a flat this weekend on benefits instead. Problem with that is i dont have the cash to pay my loan ect and the new utility bills and feed myself so im really scared!

I was supposed to be starting some temp work at currys but they have messed me around so i have no idea what to do as my JSA runs out in 3 weeks :P

Get a "Crisis Loan" from your local Job Centre but when you inquire tell them you have nothing, i.e no gas, electric, food.
