Jurassic World Evolution - Park Building #Thread#

Hello Dino-fans

My girlfriend is in to management games and dinosaurs so obviously is interested in this, especially now that it is available at £17.99 in the Steam sale. However, I'm trying to deter her from doing a 'me' (and many of 'us' I would imagine) and stockpiling a ton of new games when she has others to play. She has Two Point Hospital, Cities: Skyline and Dungeon Keeper III at the moment for management games and I will give her keys for Prison Architect and Parkitect over Christmas. Already that's more than enough to be getting on with! She is a teacher so will have plenty time during the holidays.

I'm advising her to hold off on this one because somewhere down the line I expect that not only will it be this cheap again but there will be a "Ultimate" or whatever version with all DLCs packed in. This is a safe assumption and good advice, right?

Are there also bugs that need ironing out still?

Reinforce me! :p

Cheers.

@Daftbrown No bugs I know of really, it's actually pretty polished and shiny for what's there!

The biggest let down to this is depth, it's all about the dino's really and nothing else. Short of power, enclosures and what they need to survive and keep them happy, which isn't a lot, there's nothing much else to it. Not yet anyway! They've recently made some much needed improvements such as social interactions between the dino's etc but they've still got a long way to go, for example raptors don't hunt in packs yet. I may pick up the dlc but I'm not really fussed about a few more missions and a couple more make believe hybrids. despite what it's lacking it still manages to be fun though I just hope they keep fleshing it out to give it much more depth.

I see a lot of people are kinda disappointed with the park / management aspect of this game - perhaps a little superficial...?
But with the Steam sale having reduced it to just over £11 I'm thinking about trying this out, to the point of the full fat option of the premium (give me all) for around £33.
For those who have this does £33 seem a reasonable buy for a Dino type game, rather than a park management type sim, and worth considering over the basic £11 vanilla game only...?

Only disappointed with the terrain management, but for £11 it's a great game.

Bought it on Thursday and have 30 hours in it already, also read up on the expansions and didn't deem them worth the cost.

^^^ I suppose for £11 it is a good buy for what it offers, similar to the £15 that I spent on NMS - but that one still gets humongous updates and free add-ons.

Perhaps the premium version (£33) even with the Dr Wu add-on might need rethinking for value.

I bought this earlier in the year for £20ish, I've put about 60 hours into it so far and feel like I got my money's worth. The Dr Wu add-on was enjoyable but I haven't bought the most recent cretaceous dino pack because £5 for 3 dinosaurs feels pretty bad value in comparison.

The patches have improved the dinosaur behavior no end and there are some basic heard mechanics now, and I suspect they will only improve with time.

I will agree that the terrain management tools have had me raging at times with how poor they are, and the reputation system is pretty annoying in that doing a task for one of your divisions reduces the reputation with the other divisions, but those are my only real complaints.

So I'm new due to the Humble Monthly and I'm enjoying this game so far. It isn't as in-depth as say Planet Coaster but I like that. With games like Planet Coaster I always find it hard to manage such a huge amount of things, whereas this game is fairly straight forward with everything. I'm finding the terrain a little bit of an issue, seems like getting certain areas to accept buildings just doesn't work for one reason or another.

Is there any fence that can stop a dinosaur from breaking out?

The game has some little niggles that you need to put up with but overall I think it's a very decent game with a great theme.

Also tip for anyone who gets this from Humble, make sure you disable the overlay for this game. After a while of playing the game will start to lag and even become unresponsive if you don't.

Have been addicted to this for days. Was on game pass and I couldn’t justify the cost at release. It’s great fun. Not without its flaws, but it does the dinosaurs well and gets the feel bang on. Not too bad with a game pad either.
