You need something a bit beefier than a R9 270 to play things on High settings. £600 your maximum budget? Also the PSU, does it tell you what it is? If it doesn't give you the brand then I guarantee you it's a cheap and nasty one.

Edit: Don't link to competitors mate!

Ok I wont.

Thanks yea I used a GPU thats a bit weaker than the norm because I find they only last 3 years so I want to spend as little on the GPU as possible but I guess I have no choice but to spend what 150 - 200 pounds on the GPU? What card would be needed? (ATI/AMD Card only)

Also is the monitor any good?

Many thanks mate!!!

Oh I will get the PSU and case separate then thankyou sir!

I have more money like 1000 pounds but Im poor so I dont want to spend more than I have to.

Easier if you give a maximum budget? We can help spec you one up then.

GPU wise, you'd need to consider R9 280/GTX 770 upwards really. For £215 you could get a R9 290 which is a great card.

1 x Powercolor Radeon R9 290 PCS+ OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £215.99
Total : £225.59 (includes shipping : £8.00).

As for the monitor, I have no experience of using it.

1000 pounds but I dont want to spend that much ideally

Thanks for the card advice kind sir!

Thats perfect thankyou kind sir will get one of these beasts! Do they really have that much of a significant performance leap over the card I was originally gonna get?

Yes! Have a look at this. All you need is to add a case that you like. I've also added an optical drive but you didn't spec one yourself so not sure if needed?

You'll get free shipping with this too, just put in the code before paying (can't find it now but it's on here somewhere!)

Thanks mate, I was gonna pay 600 though and now youve boosted it to 850, even though I have 1000 pounds to spend doesnt mean I wantt o spend it all if I can avoid it.

My system cost 600 pounds and I needed to spend 100 more on the GPU and get a good enough PSU that should be 730 pounds.

Good PSU for £30? Not quite I don't think. So what is your top budget? If it's £600 just say £600 lol Or if you're willing to strectch to £750 say that. No point sayiing you have £1000 if you don't want to spend it!

It is 1000 max but im not gonna chuck money away for nothing, if I can get a PC to do what I want for 700 pounds then Ill do that. Its based around being able to play the latest games at high resolutions and fairly high settings if it can do that at 700 pounds then thats all I need. I dont want it to use medium or low settings on any of the latest games. It doesnt have to use ultra high settings on the latest games just high settings. So it evolves around a performance not a budget price you see?

I dont understand the PSU concerns ive bought 20 pound PSU's in the past and they last a really long time no problems when they do fail they dont take out other components or blow up, I dont understand why you should pay 50 pounds for a PSU when yoyu can get a 20-30 pounds PSU that has good feedback from many people.

Geforce cards die real fast real consistently for me in the past so im going for ATI this time around, AMD processors have always served me real well so im not gonna change that. Also I believe the next gen consoles all have like 8 cores and all use ATI cards, so it might be more optimized for them, and the fact that its an 8 core processor means it will be more future proof for when they start using more cores than just 1. (it has to happen now the consoles are packing 8 cores in my guess)

Taking everything you've said into consideration this is what you should get! Again I will say you would get this PSU at your own risk! I do not recommend it at all!

YOUR BASKET
1 x Powercolor Radeon R9 290 PCS+ OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £215.99
1 x AOC E2460SH 24" Widescreen 1ms Gaming LED Monitor - Black £109.99
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320E Black Edition 3.20GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £104.99
1 x GeIL Black Dragon 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD38GB1600C11DC) £64.99
1 x MSI 970A-G43 AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £45.95
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD £39.95
1 x Microlab M113 2.1 24W Speakers £24.95
1 x Swift 650W V2 Silent Power Supply £19.99
1 x Aerocool V3X Devil Red Edition Midi-Tower - Black / Red £14.99
Total : £655.88 (includes shipping : £11.75).

Reasons:

8 core AMD CPU as you said this is what you want.
R9 290 - Will play everything on High/ultra and you don't want Nvidia
PSU - Like I said this is your choice and I don't recommend it!
Cheap case to try and save money as you want to spend as little as possible

this system should see you playing things on High for a long while....unless it all goes pop of course!

Thats perfect thankyou!

I mean surely theres a middle ground between a 20 pound PSU and a 50 pound PSU surely there a 30 pound pSU withe the quality of a 50 pound PSU kicking around somewhere or with some kind of savings deal etc ?

A crappy PSU will not regulate the voltage very well so its likely it will decrease the lifespan of any GPU or any component for that matter, Neither nVidia or AMD are the more reliable brand.

Ok I will get a quality PSU, whats the cheapest quality PSU you guys know of?

and how do you know the 50 pound psu isnt just a 20 pound psu in disguise how can you actually tell the difference between the way they work and how the quality psu is better?

For all I know someone could have strapped a 60 pound price tag on a 20 pound psu and id be none the wiser

How do I know its going to regulate the voltage well?

Ugh? Well that's me out :)

Thanks mr black n white, I see why you call yourself the penguin now, its your selling style.

If you were a car salesman youd give up after trying to sell a Ferrari to a brick layer when there were lots of porches and fords in the yard as well as a few skodas.
