just bought a 27" 3.4ghz!

couldn't hold out any longer...finally bitten the bullet and ordered a 27/3.4/1gb/2gig gfx and ordered 16gigs of ram from crucial. Do a load of photo editing work and music making stuff so reckon i'll use it well. Should be here in a week or so

just a thought though - i didn't order the track pad and i'm very used to using it on my macbook...do people actually use these on their desktop imacs?

any way, i 'm not anti windows and i have to say i've found win7 very stable but i was tempted by the screen size, increased resolution and build quality of the imac so decided to treat myself for my 30th birthday

I will have mine next month too...

I'm buying it for video edtiting etc, I will be plugging in my existing OcUK Goliath PC in to the screen via a mini dsplay port so I can use the screen for my PC as well. Music on the PC video on the iMac. Should be good fun!!!

I use my trackpad all the time on my iMac, fantastic bit of kit. I've found I hardly ever take the mouse off the magic charger to use these days.

EDIT: Having 16GB of ram in it is also very useful for the cost. I'm running a few VM's via Parallels 6 and for the most part they just churn away in a different spaces window until I need to access them.

I'm gonna get one when Lion is released I think, make it simpler. Recently bought the new MBP but tbh don't need the portability that much

should have got it with the SSD option installed. Apparently its the fastest mac ever even over the macpros at single tasks. Quite an incredible machine!

but that option is ridiculously expensive from apple! Couldn't justify it.

Yeah Crucial and ordered via Quidco for a little cash back. £60 for an additional 8Gb (2*4Gb matched pair).

I got a 27" 3.4 too, I installed a Vertex 3 SSD in there though. Sod paying all that for Apple's inferior SSDs!
