Just bought me my first sat nav Yeaa

You will also find the previous owners details on the V5, whats scary about that ?

I think its probably most risky from an identity theft view. Get the postcode, check the bins then use a bit social engineering and you've got some easy credit cards. Scary just how easy it is to gather up info and clone someone else's id!
Not had mine done yet, or at least not aware of it!
Best to play it safe and scrub any identity trail, securely delete files on gadgets and stuff. Shred those bills and any letters with your name or stuff. And not one of those cheapo 20 quid shredders either, make sure its got a DiN rating of 4, that shreds an A4 sheet into 4000 bits of confetti!! :p
And max out the paranoia by watching loads of films with id theft and government-tracking-innocent-guy-to-frame types!!! :D

lol at the paranoia in this thread

i probably nearly always have a letter or something in my car that will have my address on somewhere :O better go empty the car !

Ok, I'll pretend it's awesome.

OMG YAYZ!! Nice one dude, I'm so happy for you, competitor satnav range is amazing! :D

I thought you said once that you'd never stoop as low as posting your system specs in your sig, only car! was ages ago though, pre ocuk-forum nuke but I remember it well! :p

Just sayin' ya know!

My home postcode was programmed in my satnav that got nicked, I'd love it if the scum turned up on my doorstep so I could smack him with my keyboard a few times

In the olden days they would just go round local burger shops and takeaways etc asking the workers if they wanted a head unit or satnav or mobile etc etc (my uncle's shop used to get one guy coming round every other month with "stuff" many years ago) but these days it's all too easy for them to just steal your stuff and sell it on eBay :/

You can't remember in that well becuase post nuke I had the most awful signature known to man, including system specs.

Yeah, but it may present less risk for a burglar who on successfully nicking your car (assuming it wasn't outside your house in the first place) then goes to break in to your house, safe in the assurance that you won't be home. Of course it's not that much less of a risk, you may have someone else at home at the time, etc.

That happened ! Saw it in the papers a few months back, a family went to the center parcs or something and they did exactly that !
