just built pc. it goes on for about 20 seconds doing all the usual things. after a little while it turns off. this happens everytime. any ideas?

my friend suggested unplugging certain things and trying it without them in. any other ideas?

i get a message whilst booting saying "cpu is unworkable or has been changed. please recheck cpu soft menu." is this normal as i'm using an old hard drive??

did your old hdd have a copy of windows on it?

in the 20 seconds is there any attempt to boot into windows?

if i press F1 it continues to load windows. if i dont press it it stays at another screen and then turns off at that point. sometimes it turns off after a few seconds.

its most likely that windows didnt like the mass hardware change, i suggest reformatting the drive and putting a fresh install in

im not sure on that one sorry, reponse to post 9

for post 10, its normally recommended that when do change a lot of hardware, you reformat as it stops a lot of potential problems form occuring

It sounds like it might be switching itself off because it's getting to hot. Make sure you have good contact between the CPU and heat sink.

It is advisable to a rebuild after changing that much harware though
