well to be honest i use a drop of lighter fluid that stuff cleans any thing.
olny use a really small amount though then wipe it with tissue.
you can buy proper stuff to clean it but it not cheap.

im at least 80% sure.
its definately your temps that are making it shut down.
most motherboards from the last 7 or 8 years shut down if the cpu gets to hot.
mine shuts down @ 65.
if you have got a m.a.p.l.i.n store near by they sell paste.

well the paste helps the heat transfer from the cpu and the heatsink.
i have had a lot of people come to my shop with old amd's and intels that are slowing down and i have found that many heatsinks that have a standard thermal pad on they degrade and dry up and therefore the cpu runs a little hoter, when appling new paste temps drop and speed up a little. i would try paste and if that doesnt work then there mabie somthing wrong with your fan or heatsink, or worst case cpu.

yeah i'm certain its the temps. but are people certain that bad thermal paste is the cause?
Its ether the lack of paste or the fact the heat sink isn't sitting flush against the heat spreader on the CPU. Tbh your temps are so high I’d be inclined to say latter, even with no paste it shouldn’t get that hot so quickly. Also from your second pic it looks like the right side of the CPU heat spreader has browed slightly suggesting it's got hotter than the left.

Check the cooler is mounted the correct way round with the same amount of tension on all four screws. Also check that the CPU is sitting correctly in its socket, and the motherboard is properly installed i.e. all screws are tightened.

I know this might sound a little bit silly but have you plugged the fan into the correct power socket on the motherboard?
