Just cause 3

Crossfire doesn't work in JC3. Really hoping the developers manage to patch it in. At launch an Nvidia person posted on their forum that the JC3 engine in currently incompatible with multi-GPU and there's nothing Nvidia or AMD can do about it.

I'm currently getting about 30FPS with a single 290, but that's at 5760x1080 at highest settings except AA (which is at the middle setting). What resolution and settings are you running at? Have you tried with VSync off to see if that's holding the frame rate at 30 as it can't hit 60?

Im running at 1440p all the settings it set automatically, i just turned off fxaa. I ran it with vsync off to start, it was running at about 40 fps, looked terrible though. I guess ill wait for them to patch it. No point playing at such low fps. This is the first time crossfire has let me down since skyrim.

I lost my save (along with many others) when I did a fresh W10 install, haven't bothered to start it again, along with all the others I lost, just haven't got the motivation.

Thought I would get round to playing this game. Started it up and after the intro video game crashes. Everytime. Great another game that doesnt work straight away. Been looking forward to this.

So went for google to help. First fix turn SSR off. Didnt work. Next fix turn Motion Blur Off. Already had it off. Then the grasping at straws fixes, changed pagefile, update drivers (on them anyway) boot game from a fresh install etc etc etc. Nothing works yet.

Why o why do I have to play the "fix the game to work" game before playing the flamin game !

What a crock of poo.

Worked straight away for me also as do most games, there has to be something amiss on certain computers for it not to work but it's hardly fair to say the game is therefore a crock of poo but I feel your frustration in not being able to play

The above that worked when did you last play it as I've read the latest patches over the last month or two "broke" a lot of the game including at one point broke modding and they had to issue another patch to fix it again, or tried.

It is fair to say its a crock of poo judging by the amount of people having problems even to the extent that the first sticky on the Steam Discussion forum is

"Bad Performance & Crashing: Check Here for Potential Fixes First!"

Having spent 70+ hours on Just Cause 2 you can imagine my frustration not to be able to play JC3 at the first attempt especially as I dont normally have issues with games running.
Anyway I resolved it. Nvidia to the rescue. I was already on 365.19 drivers so all I did was use GE to optimise the gfx settings and then no crashes.

Make of that what you will !

At least now half a day later I can have some explosive fun!
:)

Picked this up cheap, played for half an hour, menu in the map is dodgy, have to click slightly below what you actually want to select and I cant get the "help text" to go. Keeps just saying "select placeholder" from the menu and wont go away..........

Not a good start.......:)

Apparently having a gamepad plugged in causes stutters? I tried steam offline and unplugging my controller and it's smooth as butter now. So not sure which it is..

Just using an assault chopper to destroy the earth moving bases, after a 4th try.

I have mine plugged in and noticed the cut scenes judder a bit. So might try unplugging it.

Dont know game still doesnt feel right and solid. The early mission where you had to hack two SAMS had to do that 3 times as it wouldnt save my progress after I quit and went back.

Had the mission completed message also each time and 2nd time I was on the blow up the turbine's at the industrial base.

As predicted it was your PC settings & not the game

one synical person might say that Nvidia caused the crash to force you to use GE.

Might have been online mode, I'll try with a pad plugged in.

Offline mode with a pad: small stutters every so often.
Offline mode with no pad: No stutters. At least none I can see.

However my 1440p, 144hz G-Sync Predator comes today, so that'll be my test machine :D

I'm also thinking about picking this up in the sale having enjoyed messing about in 2, but is it just more of the same, or does 3 differentiate itself in any interesting ways.
Cos, if it's just 2 with slicker graphics maybe I'll give it a miss

I loved Just Cause 2, and had performance issues when 3 came out as it didn't support Crossfire (no issues now I'm on single card). I loved 3. It's largely the same as 2, but the addition of the retractable, multiple grapple is a game changer for me - it's just such fun to hook things together, retract the grapple and watch then both explode. Plus, the wingsuit is fun, and the rocket mines are laugh out loud fun when you unlock them.

If you enjoyed 2, I'd definitely recommend getting 3.
