Just dropped a deposit on some M Power - Trackday Project Car

Get the pole positions fitted?

Not yet still deciding, seen some new Sparco seats which are available early next year which I also like so am gonna wait and they try sitting in them all.

Seats, wheels and then its a wrap. :D

Getting some braking vibration at 80-100mph under braking, steering wheel wobbles, was not there a week ago.

Checked the front hats, one side has a crack around bolt, either age or over-tighten when new outers fitted, guessing that is cause, can't be safe anyway.

Just had to order a pair of new bells from Alcon, best part of £600, thats the issue with Alcon brakes, they might be ace, but damn the pricing is a bit of joke. :(

Hi there

Well its being six years and I've decided to sell, simply because I hardly use the car any more, so gave it a good cleaning this weekend and myself and the Mrs grabbed lunch in it, a real shame as the car is such a blast, but here is a load of pictures of how the car stands now, this car is such an incredible drive, certainly better than the CSL I owned some years ago but it should be as most the mods done are what CSL owners would, but the car looks immaculate, OK it is by no means what you would call a showroom condition original car, because it is not being nearly 18 years old and covered nearly 115,000 miles, but its a damn clean solid car with very premium tasteful mods done to it that make it an extremely capable road and track car.

I am happy for any prospective buy to get 12 months MOT put on the car as well:

More pictures taken this weekend:

Serious bit of kit, any idea what you're going to ask for it yet?

Put it up at £16,500ono, anything around 15k I shall be happy with, to some that may seem cheap, to others a bit expensive but it has had huge money put into it and well it needs nothing doing to it mechanically, of course it could be improved further and tidied up further, but as I found out it is never ending with this car. :D

Such a fantastic car. Will be sold in no time. Just my luck I have a second child due in a month. Would love something like this!

Thanks its only advertised on M3cutters and M3 FB groups at present, seeing if it moves there before I put it on PH or Autotrader and have to deal with all the usual rift raft.....

Good price, I saw a similarly spec'd one go for over £20k. Shame it's not a manual though as otherwise I might have been tempted.

If it was manual would be 20k because as always manuals are worth more because more people prefer a track car to be a manual and a lot of people think SMG is some kind of nightmare, I actually prefer SMG to manual but that is just me. :)

Took the car into work today:

Are you going to replace it or just run the Clio? There's a lot to be said about small, lightweight FWD cars on track.

Going to sell that too, the Clio is great but for me being FWD half a day is enough, because it is simply too easy and there is less options so to speak in regards to handling and throwing it around. RWD to me is more fun and interesting on track.

The plan is to just keep the Ferrari and get a second much newer car, probably an Abarth 595 Comp or a Scirroco R so quite capable but much more a road car than a track car, if and when I do a track day I simply want to take the Ferrari. :)

Be interested to know how much you're letting that go for.

Going to advertise around 6.5k, simply because mechanically it is perfect having being fully restored within last 2000 miles, the only downside is there is some scratches on the paint some of which though have polished out quite well so not so noticeable ideally need paint to make perfect, hence pricing it about a thousand below a couple of others that are available or sold with similar miles/owners, if paint was perfect I feel 8k all day long with how rare they are becoming. I am sure for anyone wanting to store it that in 5 years time it will be well into and beyond 10k in value. :)

Its a 172 Cup isnt it? Sounds like about 2.5K too much to me in the current market even considering the work that has gone into it, but you might find an enthusiast buyer with a spare bob or two I suppose.

Anyone who spends 8K on one needs to see the quack.

Like I say, no rush, cheapest similar one mileage wise is 4k, so yeah I am a bit over, but at same time no particular rush or need to move it swiftly.

Only 145HP from the 2.0 lump though for some reason.

De-tuned, better lifespan, longer service intervals.

Oof blimey, I would have understand if it was like 30k miles, or a 182 Trophy. I think £5k-£5.5 would be the mark.

But of course with all things, with the right "enthusiast" someone would buy it at that price.

Interestingly, something that's just popped up on Pistonheads, a "remake" "172" in the form of a Dacia Sandero "RS"

Yep, something I can consider when I decide to advertise it. :)

Did not take long, a mate has taken the M3 from me, which is awesome as I shall still get to see it around.
Epic car but time to move on. :)

@Gibbo - You think the SMG is worth it over the Manual in the E46? Car will be seeing track use as well...

You have to drive both, manuals command a strong premium now.

I like SMG one of few that does, easily flashed to the CSL firmware which improves it a lot and I had no real issues with it, clutch went just like it can go in a manual, replacement same procedure apart from using software to prime the SMG pumps etc and pump/bleed the system.

I missed out on your old car, I've found another which has had all the big jobs doing, with some nice mods, only thing putting me off is the SMG part. The problem is I had a manual e92 M3 and didn't enjoy it. Always wished I bought the Auto version. The manual gear changes were not the best..

Yeah he sold it a week or two back, guy from Ireland came for it and paid the 17k asking. Crazy as when he thought about selling it at start of this he offered it me for 12.5k and I was tempted as thought give it a few months and 15-18k be possible and well he sold it no problem he could have probably got more for it.
