I am not overly impressed with it just yet, kinda looks fuzzy and not too sharp in game, maybe cos its not on a HDTV ?

I don't think it helps its through composite leads/scart adaptor either, have ordered the Joytech RGB, S-video and Optical audio all in one cable, hopfully that will make things much sharper until I can afford a HDTV ?

Composite is a terrible connection and a SDTV obviously won't do it full justice. The games will also get prettier as the devs learn, a lot of the current titles lack proper AA or don't use all the cores.

Yeah, some TVs dont handle composite very well at all (whereas some look almost identical to RGB). The new cable should sharpen things up nicely

What games are you trying out of interest?

Yep, RGB or S-video from other sources is far better on my TV than composite, so hopefully it will bring the 360 up to scratch (he says running out of places to plug things into :o)

I bought a package with PGR3 and a second wireless controller, as that was the game I wanted to start with, when 360's were like rocking horse doo-doo ;)

Just pre-ordered Tomb raider, and have a few more on the wish list for when I finish that.

I did notice that Black isn't out for the 360 ... odd ?
Maybe the normal Xbox version works on 360 ?
Talking of which, anywere that lists what normal xbox games work on 360 ?

Cheers, sorry for questions, long time since I owned a console ;)

YaY welcome to the 360 club mate, you finally got one.

Yeah the Advanced RGB Scart makes a hell of a difference over the comp to scart, using the Joytech one here, pictures incredible, you don't need a HDTV. :D

Glad to hear it :D

Shh don't tell the wife I don't need a HDTV though :p

Yeah, opened it up and fell over laughing at the size of the PSU ... cheeky beggars dont even put a switch on it so I have to ferret round to get the mains plug to another socket instead of my AV surge protected extension doo-dah, bloomin M$ :p

Anyway I can hook a wireless network card to this thing ?
If not I shall have to stay offline ... BTW I suppose you have to pay for that anyway ?

You can use any wireless access point/wireless network bridge and plug it in to the 360, and I think there's an official USB wireless receiver as well.

The console comes with a "Silver" subscription that you can use to access demos etc, but you need a Gold subscription (~£40 a year usually?) to play online, though when you setup the silver account it'll tell you that you have a free trial of the Gold service.

Got mine a couple weeks back and i was also shocked and amazed by the size of it!!! The fan inside of it makes an horrendous laptop whine though which i hate! Isnt it like a 310watt psu?

He's always talked rubbish though, you do need HDTV, SDTV is awful and I for one wouldn't go back.

I have the official wireless adapter, excellent piece of kit and works very well with a good range, even through doors \o/.

You get silver subscription, which means you can keep your friends list, message, download demo's and trailers etc.. The only thing you can't do is play multiplayer, thats reserved for gold which is £40 per year. Worth it though.

Note on HDTV...

Its true the picture does look good using the advanced scart lead...i had mine fitted to a top of the range Sony 32" tank/monster...but couldnt resist the temptation of a lcd HDTV...

So bought a Samsung, same models as in the shop booths for dems...
and anyone who says the can't see a difference is either blind or lying lol...

its like night and day, bloody fantastic now...its some upgrade is a HDTV for the 360 imo. :D

Can you still download the software that allows xbox games to be played on the 360.

I only got till next week for my xbox360 to arrive, i've only been waiting 4 MONTHS. :(

But what games work ? there must be a list somewere ?
Is the official wireless doo-dah going to work with any wireless router ?
My PC is upstairs and has the cable modem with it, I was thinking of getting a wireless router to connect the Xbox (downstairs and about 20ft away from were the router would be) through the PC via ICS.. will that work ?

It'd probably work, but wouldn't be the best solution.

You want:

Cable modem -> wireless ethernet router -> RJ45 cable -> PC

Then wireless from the router to the 360.

That way you don't need the PC on to play on the 360, and using the router would be a lot more reliable than ICS.

The wireless adapter is a/b/g so you won't have any problems at all. Several people have done it via ICS too but I don't understand what you mean...

You make it sound like you want to connect wirelessly via your PC... it would just connect to the router wirelessly.

There is a list floating somewhere, it may even be in the FAQ thread, I need to look at it myself.

Xbox version does not work on the 360 asfar as I am aware.

There is a list going around somewhere on the xbox website
