Just gave blood again, do you?

They made me look away even though I said I was fine with needles. I did take a photo when it was in though. :D

If you think it would be worth their while (ie quite a few people in the same boat as you) you could try contacting them to visit you.

I'll take a look at that thanks,

If they come to my work I'd be more than willing to give up a few pints of the good stuff, do I get a magazin... oh wait.. wrong thread...

:p

But seriously, I'll try & get them to come here - massive office area with plenty of people who are ripe for bleeding.

I'm a pussy when it comes to needles.

However it is slightly selfish of me not to help out on occasion I guess. I'll book myself in and as long as its not horrifically painful or woozy inducing, I'll keep it up.

Gave blood yesterday at school, and a 'funny' thing happened.

Gave blood, put pressure ion the small slit, all good. She put that small stick on it. All set to go. put on my jacket and I go out. Feel my hand soooo cold, so I look at it, and I see blood on my jacket. Not too much. So I turn round to go back, knock, and they were like, take off your jacket NOW! Under my jacket I had a pullover, and the sleeve was nearly full with blood (from the elbow to the hand). Put preassure on it again, and it closed up well so nothing too bad happened. had to stay with blood for the rest of the day though.

I'm sick today, so not sure if they will keep my blood :/

I gave blood for a number of years then had a bike smash and ended up having a 5-pint blood transfusion. Femur/marrow recovery prevented donation for a number of years.

Then, out of the blue, I started getting begging letters. Pleading for my blood and platelets due to being O neg. After six months of this I went again. After waiting in the queue for half an hour, I asked them about something that didn't make sense in the questionnaire.

It turned out that, "Sorry, if you've had a blood transfusion since 1980 then you can't give blood due to the risk of passing on CJD."

Eeee, I went bleedin' crackers

"YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT I CAN'T GIVE BLOOD BECAUSE I MAY PASS ON A DISEASE THAT, IF I HAVE IT, WILL HAVE COME FROM YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE?

I continued:

"ALSO, IN THIS AGE OF COMPUTERS, HOW COME YOU ARE SENDING BEGGING LETTERS TO SOMEONE WHO THE SYSTEM WOULD SHOW CANNOT GIVE BLOOD?"

"REMOVE ME FROM YOUR RECORDS AND DON'T CONTACT ME AGAIN YOU BUNCH OF IDIOTS!!!"

Screw 'em, they ain't getting another drop out of me.

You're so cool.

I have my first donation on the 17th!

The last time I had a blood test I watched, and although I'm fine with needles, I did get very light headed after and then had to go and be sick. I think not eating before the appointment was the issue.

Well, I went in this evening but when hearing I had a vomiting bug last Friday they showed me the door. I understand.. :( gotta wait until March 9th now.

We have a lorry that comes to work for blood donations. Not sure why seeing as it's a hospital but anyways. I went to ask about giving blood as I've been meaning to do it for ages. Turns out I can't due to my throxine dose being unusually high. Sucks but apparently if I did donate and it was given to someone with a normal thyroid it could mess them up.
