Just gave blood again, do you?

Finally got around to registering! My first donation is in a week and a half and I'm looking forward to it now.

I'm slightly nervous, I have to admit; not about needles, they don't bother me at all, but more the thought of walking around minus a pint of blood for a while. For some reason that makes me feel...queasy.

i'm O+ sadly they don't take my blood in Belgium as i lived in the uk between 1980 and 1996

true story :D

anyone wanna guess why?
I did give it before and also fainted just after. Very weird sensation everything going black and my legs just going from under me.

Was lying with my feet up when a work mate went past and said "look at you. you lazy git" ;)

Honestly you won't be able to tell the difference.

They wouldn't take so much as to affect you in any way :).

I used to try and give regulary but after 2 succesful attempts out of 9 i gave up. Was always one reason or another why i couldnt. Doesnt help that its always stupidly hard to get a vein, average is 6-7 times anytime ive had to have blood taken. Will prob try again in the new year

Yeah I know, I'm just being silly really. :) Don't worry I won't chicken out or anything! I've been trying to convince my family and friends to start, too.

Cant

Had to have a plasma transfusion to help me clot after a month of the thinning injections in hospital so i could have my 4th operation to save my live.

Give enough blood now to for tests to check im okay a year later that i probably had 20-30 blood tests this year, both full and liver function.

Wish i never had it as im so weird with other peoples things like i cant touch a door at work/shopping centre etc without coving my hand.... weird i know but they could have offered me the man made clotting agent they can inject...ahh well.

Gah! The time has finally come - tomorrow is the day of my very first donation - and I think I'm coming down with a cold! Noooooooo! I'm so excited about it! It will really suck if I end up having to postpone my first donation. :(

I've given blood once, but passed out *after* I had finished and was sick when I came around. On top of that I found out afterwards that I shouldn't donate if I spend time at high altitude so couldn't jump for a month. Gonna time it better next time. :p

Hooray, all done! They almost didn't take mine because I hadn't eaten within two hours prior; I swear I have never seen that mentioned in any of the literature! But they took it in the end and I feel fine. :)
