Just gave blood again, do you?

I'm CMV neg too, pretty cool.

Tested for platelet donation but need to leave the county to do it; not really practical to do a 120mile round trip as often as you can donate. Shame really, the whole blood donations seem so far in between; every 3 months seems an excessively long time to me. Apparently you can recover in 8 weeks.

i did find their facebook post the other day amusing saying how great it was this couple donated 100+ times in some country, but we can only donate every 3 months, so impossible to do over here.

had a missed phonecall off them, with a message about platelet donations. Back in on Wednesday so will say what they say.

I haven't tested for it as the closest to me is Bristol which is a 2 hour round trip on a good day, plus the time involved.

Did my 10th donation last week, booked for the next which is march i think, shame it can't quicker as i would love to donate more often.

I miss the old goverment gateway blood website. It used to give details of how your donation was used: whole-blood, platelets, plasma, etc. The new website is 'easier' I guess, but it's less interesting for the sake of being more 'bloggy'.

I have no ideas how my donations are being used. Interesting that you're getting texted, I don't get that.

I only get texted to tell me not to forgot to the go to my appointment (it doesn't actually tell me when the appointment is though lol)

Giving blood they go on about how you're saving a life in an emergency situation in a way to pull your heart strings to donate.

In reality your blood could go on anything, like a drunk waster who won't help themselves for all you know.

it would be a shame if my blood went to a waster like you.
what an absolutely stupid comment.

so you would rather 10s of thousands of normal people die, as you have some stupid grudge against a very small percent of society.

Had to have some blood tests done this week.

2 arms, 6 needles later they finally coaxed out 3/4 of a vial... which was "just enough" for the tests.

Don't think my body wants to give its blood up :)

“Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.”

It's an hour out of my time every 3 months even if they just tipped it down the drain it wouldn't really make a difference to me.

Have always regularly donated, however in January I have surgery which involves me getting some donor tissue, and I've been told I will never be allowed to donate blood again because of that. Actually quite gutted :/
