Just gave blood again, do you?

First platelet donation of 2017 currently in progress. You have no idea how hard it is to open one of those single serving size tuc cheese sandwich packs with only one hand (my non dominant one at that!)

I had to cancel my appointment last week as I'm full of the cold, managed to grab a cancellation for next Monday though or else it was going to be well into March before any of the other local sessions had any free appointments

Wow, are there no staff to do that? Half the point of apheresis is waitress service... Also how do you still get those? I've not seem them in clinics down South since about 1998. Did you goits steal them all?

I was in last Thursday for number 611.

:D It was a pretty busy session, I didn't want to interrupt them. Well it was either a tuc cheese sandwich, tunnocks caramel wafer or tunnocks teacake. I was in the mood for something savoury and I'd turned down the offer of having cheese on toast as I wasn't that hungry :o

I haven't give blood for about 6 years and had only done it 3 times before that. Had to re-register as my Donor ID is so old its archived so they have to allocate a new one to me.

Booked in to give blood on the 23rd on my day off and 3 days after my birthday. Its a bit of a new years resolution and since my father had Prostate cancer 4 years ago and went in for his OP (3 and 1/2 years clear) I feel i should pay it forward to others.

Plus im a jack of all trades blood type O+

From my previous post I donated on the 23rd (still harboring a huge bruise) and just got a text saying it went to Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Kind of like knowing where it went. Considering donating Platelets but not sure how i feel about it coming out, getting spun and then put back in.

OK, I'm late to the party and I didn't see this bit before.

Young lady, you disappoint me. Turning down cheese on toast? What kind of attitude is that? :D

Lol Feek i had to go back through the thread to realize what you were referring to as i initially thought you posted in this rather than La Cuisine!

Lots of love to those donatining blood or platelets, or thinking about it.

It really does save lives and makes you feel brilliant inside. There are are few better feelings than walking out of there knowing you've saved a life today.

Before my gran passed she had a bad time in hospital and during one of those visit I saw how much blood was required to keep her alive.... Ever since then I donate blood here and there. I don't appreciate the constant nagging letter though even if I understand why they send them.

When I first signed up in January last year the incessant nagging texts and things were driving me mental but I don't get any now, possibly because I've always got an appointment lined up. Got my 5th coming up at the end of May.
