Just got attacked

So, so right ... these people supposedly have no shame and no respect for anyone or anything.

Lets test exactly how much shame they have, when they are paraded through the town centre, made to face their victims and the rest of the community. I don't think the stocks are such a good idea, as that just continues the violence ... I think a much better solution would be to have them perform menial community improvement tasks, such as cleaning, painting or repair work, in a highly visible way, whilst wearing overalls with their name and DOB on the back. This way, they will hopefully also learn that respect is something you can gain or lose, through your interactions with others. Also, other potentially troublesome members of the community, will get to see exactly what punishment awaits them, should they choose to behave in the same manner.

They should reinstitute and old custom, the stocks, im sure market traders and other shops would supply plenty of grossly gone off produce as amunition for the masses:D.

You are kind of right. However the law is getting better and they get a shock when they are suddenly tried in the adult court with multiple asbos. Something usually happens then.
They deserve punishment the first time round, shame really :(

Chin up fella, you live to learn. I got jumped by 12 lads when I was 14, by 16 year olds. They did a decent job, tooth went through my lip (knuckle duster) and plenty of tasty blood.

I had to change schools, took up boxing for the past 4/5 years and life changed a lot. A beating is always an experience, I say. Never had any problems since, had a couple apologise to me, I was out on vendetta to do something nasty but by that time I had my head screwed on.

Moving out to Oxford in a couple of months, looking forward to getting stabbed down Cowley :D

They might get an asbo which they seem to regard as a badge of honour or some other slap on the wrist with luxuriously padded and soft gloves when they really need a kicking. Only two good things came out of this you not seriously injured or robbed.

definately what he said...
gotta agree that you were lucky, but dare i say it without the more PC group jumping on me, it's times like this you have to like the approach of finding out how tough they are one on one at times of your choosing....

amazing how people quote law and say turn the other cheek etc, and say give people respect, treat others how you'd like to be treated and all that, well how would the givers like to take a kicking for a change....

My friend died because of been jumped, count yourself lucky man it could have been worse :)

Glad your okay man i hate bullies and gangs who do this, its out of oreder.

Atleast your fine though mate, chin up and take care and as said above, respect for the condom :p

Hope the police do summin..

Unlucky, seems you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's surprising how much of a beating you can take without having much to show for it and I can appreciate that, you're probably aching a bit now though.

Oxford is a pretty safe place from what I remember, even Blackbird Leys didn't seem too bad (then again coming from Plymouth and walking through Swilly most places seem safe in comparison), I had to go to the college there a few times and walked from Iffley Rd near the uni sports grounds. Things may have changed since though as I was there around 99-02 while at uni.

Oxford is a safe place. I have only ever had trouble there inside a club and twice outside said club. You were in the wrong place at the wrong time it seems...

Sue their butts! And give the bigger boys from cowley/Blackbird leys a call, or if you are really looking to get revenge, the Bartons/Chippy lads (as they call themselves!).

I have always found staying on the right side of people helps me in certain situations ;)

Yeah, I know Oxford is generally quite a safe place, it's just that in the last week, 12 of my friends have been attacked, plus me. Another friend has also received death threats. Several other people I know have also been attacked.

You need to hang out with the bigger boys! Seriously, what are you doing to attract all this negative attention with your friends then? I thought Summertown was one of the nicer places in Oxford to be honest.. :)

Everyone should have a jonny in their wallet, if you don't get lucky you can put it over your head or blow it up. Any number of things.

Chavs though, no respect for anything, i honestly think we should have a group prejudice against the chavs. The law stepped out long ago, it's ******* ridiculous you ask me.

It's been the holidays, so we have been out pretty much every night in town. :p Also, all the chavs are on holiday as well, and doing the same stuff as us.

I normally hang out with quite a few big people, probably why this is the first time I have ever been attacked. :p

I got jumped once by a bunch of kids from another school when walking home after my mocks, as long as you walk away from it you'll laugh about it later :)

I've already laughed at this whole thing. They must have been pretty annoyed at getting nothing out of this.

Except a visit from the police... :D

this is terribly sad and concerning indeed. If you're not safe in Oxford, then where are you safe?

Again, is there some odd reason why you're (plural) getting targeted? eg. obvious things like being 'posh' and going to a private school? Perhaps you're a goth? I dunno...

But what I do know is that I feel terribly annoyed that this is going on. I sincerely hope that you're all alright though.

A few people have said I sound really posh, but I didn't say anything to these guys before they attacked me. Some of the chavs in the year below me were skipping lessons and hanging out with the attackers yesterday, and they have heard me speak, and know a little about me though.

I'm not a goth. :p I have long hair and was wearing a Superdry hoody and slightly skinny jeans. I can see why they might attack me, even though there isn't a good reason!

The 12 friends got attacked in 2 groups, not 12 individual cases in 7 days. The fights were 8 the first night by a massive (15 iirc) gang of chavs, so almost 2 on 1 and some had chains, and 4 got attacked in town, quickly got broken up by police and they got arrested (:)).

None of the people attacked knew the people attacking them though. Some of the massive group go to my school though.
