Hi,

Just got my RAID array up and running and it seems to be working well.

I'm just wondering why there is a "Raid Controller" that hasn't got any drivers in the device manager?

I installed drivers from the floppy disk during XP setup & then installed the Intel Matrix Storage Manager in Windows.

I've got the P35-DS4

Is it maybe the GIGABYTE controller?

It controls the IDE socket and the two purple SATA ports too.

Just leave the 'OnboardSATA/IDE Ctrl Mode' in BIOS set to IDE if you're using either.

I only use the ICH9R ports on my board (no IDE).

When setting RAID up the manual said (for ICH9R RAID) to make it RAID controlled (default was IDE)

Thanks,
Craig.

Yip that's for the Intel RAID. The Jmicron set-up is at the bottom of the same BIOS page, and you can set the 'Onboard SATA/IDE Device' to disabled if you won't be using any of the JMicrons functions. Should help boot times too.

Just got round to disabling it now.

Got rid of a whole extra bootup process (a screen used to come up saying something up no drives, which was true as nothing is plugged in to that controller).

Thanks,
Craig.

What is the JMicrons function, what are it advantages / disadvantages?
