Just had a break in, lost all my pc bits ;(

Id be totally gutted too if someone nicked my pc, but I guess thats a good thing about living in the countryside. They would have to brake my antec 900 if they wanted to get inside, cos I have security screws on the side panels, that are impossiible to unscrew without the tool that the screws came with. I guess I should replace the card screws with them too, then If the managed to get in the case, they couldnt really change the case cos, they would have to spend hrs trying to get the card screws out.... My moto is....... if I cant have it no one else can have it either, or no one can take it apart without busting it anyway.:D

lol
If you believe that you would believe anything!!
Thieves can easily bypass multiple security features of bank cash box's so I don't think a mass produced pc case with a few generic 'security screws' is gonna be much of a challenge tbh.
Give me your case and I bet I could be inside it within a few minutes with minimal if any damage!!

OP: Unlucky mate, we were burgled when i was younger and as someone else said it ain't the loss of property that is most upsetting more the fact that unsavory characters were in your house rummaging through your stuff
Hopefully the police will catch them and they will be punished accordingly.
Good luck mate!

Also what percentage of stolen computers/laptops do you reakon contains stolen material on the HD's?? I would bet a VERY high percentage do!!
Admittedly it's not as a serious form of stealing but at the end of the day it's still stealing!!
So people who go off on one saying the thief should be shot, hung quartered ..etc had better be whiter than white or they are borderline hypocrites imo!!

My main backup and file server is in a locked cupboard and would be a shock for any would be thieves that open it, won't go into details.
Well you had better pray that no-one breaks into your house and is injured or killed by your 'supposedly' booby trapped cupboard!
Because if they are then you would be in serious trouble with the law and rightly so as NO property/material object is more important than human life, even a thiefs!!!

Sorry to hear about your ill fortune.
I know what it's like to have stuff stolen, there really is no need for it.

At the end of the day though it is only possessions and nobody has been physically hurt.

Also I think you will have some fun building your collection back up with the insurance money.

Out of the ashes a phoenix will rise.

(just trying to put a positive spin on a thoroughly wretched experience)

Heres a review of the screws,, but I guess your right, but the guy in this review had problems.

I first installed the screws on our sacrificial test case. Knowing that we were most likely going to destroy the screw points of said test case, we chose a hideous pink case that had also been responsible for frying a motherboard, due to poorly constructed motherboard standoffs. So I guess you could say it was a personal vendetta. Anyway, we installed one gold and one black screw on the case. We tightened each screw down with the included screwdriver as tight as we could get them. Then we set out to remove the Security Screws!by any means necessary. First we tried the good old vice grips. Despite our best clamping efforts, the little screws held strong. The rotating outer rings of the screws really did keep us from getting a good grip!the rings just spin around the head of the screw, preventing would-be thieves from actually turning the neck of the screw. The rotating outer rings of the screws are slightly tapered, which also helps to keep unwanted tools from getting their metallic teeth around the outer ring.

Next we tried blunt-nosed pliers, no luck. Needle-nosed pliers proved equally as useless as did wire snips and tweezers. Frustrated, we went at them again with the vice grips. This time around we succeeded only in destroying the poor outer ring, thus making it impossible to remove the screw even with the included screwdriver. Time for the big guns. The large reciprocating SKIL saw made short work of the insolent little screws and melted lots of pink plastic in the process.

We decided to test them again. This time I installed two new screws with the included custom keys. I was able to get more torque with the keys as the screwdriver head had a tendency to slip off the 3-pronged gold screw heads. Once again we let loose with the destruction. This time, however, we tried a pair of smaller needle nose pliers and attempted to grab a hold of the actual screw head itself as opposed to the rotating outer ring. With a large amount of elbow grease and at just the right angle, we were able to remove the screws. This was the only way we were able to extract the Security Screws (without the help of a power tool). The smaller needle nose pliers were just tiny enough to fit around the pronged screw heads and eventually twist them free, but it wasn't an easy task.

See that case they show is anti-theft without the screws. I am not a thief but if I was to break into a house to steal cool stuff the last thing I would probably take would be a PC that looked like that. That case screams "spare junk parts in a Barbie themed junker case for my 8 year old daughter" :P

I deem that case the future of anti-theft game cases!

So guys and gals, if you dont want your pc nicked get a rubbish looking pink case and stick a few bows on it too:D..lol

You can add some Celeron or PII stickers on it as well for added flair!

Not trying to make light of the loss of stuff btw and I hope your insurance gets it sorted I just saw that pink plastic case they used in the demo and about fell out of my chair laughing :) Brilliant!

Yeah hope it works out with the insurance m8. speaking of insurances we have just had a 7foot fish tank go pop about a month ago in our front room. Water everywhere, so funture, carpet, curtains and fishtank needs replacing, but we are slowly but surely getting it sorted. Thats the prob with insurance cases it takes ages.

more important than human life, even a thiefs!!!
You are joking i hope!
Thieves are less than the S*** on the bottom of my shoe (in my opinion)
They deserve what they get if they have an `accident`;) while trying to steal property that some one has spent time and money collecting over the years

Called the insurance company today, the machine in my sig is getting sorted asap by a company called squire, doubt they can do the water cooling kit - will get an order from OC sorted for that, all the odd bits they wont replace without proof of purchase. How the hell am i supposed to fine proof of buying stuff 10+ years ago!!!

Had some rather nice stuff (back in the day) too so looks like i will loose out bigtime! Bloody sucks.....

What next, you want me to hug a hoodie? Its not lethal if that makes you feel any better. Its essentially the same as a sign saying '400V do not open' common sense says you do not open it. Only mine just says 'voltage hazard', cutting the power would not help either ;) unfortunately due to poor maintenence somethings that should'nt be live are.. And sorry, if someone robs me i could'nt care less if they died as they're not human in my book.

Enjoy a wrongful death lawsuit if they do...

My condolances go out to you and your family it's a horrible business having your home violated, I just hope the toe rag gets caught or contracts CJD. Another place to check out might be Cash Converters or similar if they are around your way might be worth a blanket calling of you items to look out for.
