Chronos-X said:I'll agree with the 3rds comment. You have to see harmonised lines for what they are - essentially chords. If you wouldn't fill your song with suspended 4ths, dont fill your melody with them
3rds, 5ths and the odd octave seem to work best.
Docaroo said:Fine if you want to write a "By the book meat and potatoes song" - but who says you have to play by the rules? Certainly not in music! I like to see deviation... I might have a play see if it spices up the song any?

Soundclick - Doc Canon Rock
Docaroo said:Hey DM, The main melody is played how it says in the tab, but is panned hard left....
Plus... who likes to stick to the main melody? hehe how do you like my 4ths heehee ?
starscream said:Wow! some really talented guitarist here
Loving that version as well, the 4ths work really well, although I like both versions equally. I'd give my right arm to play as well as you guys... oh wait!
dmpoole said:I could hear some of the main melody in the left speaker but you obviously know your TAB and I know the original Pachelbels Canon and there are definitely wrong melodies in there. Perhaps that channel needs to be bought up more and the harmony bought down a tad. Still sounds good though.
Docaroo said:yeh that could be done but then that would give the main emphasis on the orig melody and that's exactly what I didn't want to do... the counterpoint melody is as much a part of my cover as the original melody so they both are given equal space... if you see what I mean! If I didn't I might aswell just record the original version
