Got a show special at Japfest, saved nearly £50.

And before anyone says I should be sorting the paint before getting wheels, I do kind of agree, but these aren't costing me anything bacause I'm selling both sets of my other wheels ;)

Should be arriving tomorrow :D

I was just hitting the reply button when I read that :p

Why not sell one set of your wheels, keep the existing ones and use the moeny to un-dulux the car :p

Black wheels, unfortunately, lose. Look at the car in both those pictures. Without looking very, very hard you cant even tell they are not steelies, let alone what they are - black is awful for hiding lines and styling.

That did cross my mind. But I just really wanted to get these wheels, and thought 'why not?' as it's costing me nothing.

The paint shouln't cost much to sort anyway, I'll just do it next month as I was intending to do.

the car in the photo has black wheels

the studio photo appears to be more gunmetal / grey

are they the same wheels ?

think gunmetal / grey would suit much more.

So wrong ;)

Yes, you don't really see the 'styling' of the wheels, but black wheels give it a much more agressive and purposefull look. It doesn't matter that the styling of the wheels doesn't stand out, that isnt the point :)

Yep, same wheels. The studio shot is gloss black, that car shot is flat/satin black. I have ordered the latter.

Look a bit small dont they?

No, they look just right at 16".

I don't want to go any bigger because:

A: They look crap.
B: They have a detrimental effect on handling.
C: I can just swap my current tyres over.

If the styling doesn't stand out why bother with funky wheels? Roll it on steels, penski style.

A: Well its your car, just be with the knowledge that your lightbulbs are bigger than your alloys.

B: You take it to trackdays and such?

205/45/16's. Not balloons :)

And rubber-bands = uber lose.

You are right - infact just checked the tyre size on that photo neil posted and they are 205/50/16's so hardly balloons at all. They look like it though, which is odd, as my Mondeo had the same tyres. I wonder if its the lack of rim protector and thus 'straight' edge to the tyre that gives that impression.

Could be. It also looks like he might be running 215s in that pic I posted.
