First impression:

I love playing it.

I can't believe people are saying CoD4 looks better, if you like linear gameplay fine, cod4 is great, I've finished it ages ago, and loved it, looks great, plays great, but has no replayability imo, but I can't seem to get people saying the gameplay in Crysis is poor.
You can play it how you like, kill how you like, walk where you like, be sneaky or just assault em in a car, you can avoid enemy's or kill all of them, I can't see anything wrong with that, the nanosuit is perfect and very fun. The world is completly destructable wich is awesome too.
And the people on about the GFX: You lost me, I've been playing it all high, 4x AA, 1280x1024 in dx9 and it looks awesome, I've spent half the time taking screenshots and admireing the animals / gfx / water...

Now can anybody tell me, why do you think the gameplay in Crysis is poor, as after an hour playing, I find the complete opposite.
And if you find the graphics poor: Are you blind or something, or do you just have a poor gfx card ?
 
The gameplay is ok, but as soon as you get to the Alien Ship it goes downhill FAST. Graphics blow COD4 away in terms of effects and texture quality I too cant undetstand how people can compare the graphics of COD4 to crysis.
 
The game definitely goes downhill when you reach the alien ship, but far from being a bad game. It just becomes very linear and less tactical because you can only really use one gun.
 
I'm at the point where you have to defend your team-mate. And it's gone downhill since the other nano-suits were involved ...imo. ( Or since you reach the mine / alien part )

Graphics however, are brilliant.
 
Only played the demo myself and thought the graphics on DX10 mode on a bog standard config looked really bad on foliage but awesome on the weaponry and characters. Think it just needed quite abit of tweaking. COD4 looks immense if you have the right setup for it, perfect example is the level where youve fixed the tank and its firing rounds off into the buildings and you have to provide cover and move up. Took some amazing screens of that and it looks like I was watching an FMV movie hehe

Graphics and gameplay wise they are like chalk and cheese tbh, cant really compare either as both look ace and people like the gameplay of both
 
I think it is generally people with lower spec machines that compare COD4 to Crysis graphically.... When you start knocking the detail/resolution down on Crysis it loses its magic. FYI I have a 'lower spec machine' but am yet to play COD
 
From what ive seen (not played it fully as ive played it round friends). Its not a big map where you can do anything you want or attack things anyway you want. Its like any game where they give you a pistole,knife and a rifle and say look you can be stealfy or not. You can attack it from a differnt angle, not really a non liner game. i find i can really only go one way throughh the paths, or perhaps i can go two differnt paths around a hill... big whoop.

Big let down i think, probably wont get it for a while.

It does look good even when I tried it in 1024 x 768 medium/ low settings! But that does not make up for the gameplay which is nothing really new and the badly FLUCTUATING frame rates. I don't mind if a game is a constant 30 fps or even 25 in Crysis but when it dips from 50 down to 16 when a couple of guys shoot at you I get annoyed (even at the res above which I could happily play with!)

may be there should be an option in the game where there are no enemies on the Island and you can go around admiring the scenery!::rolleyes:
 
Why did aliens have to be in crysis, i would have bought it if it wasnt for a crappy enemy like aliens, give me human drug barrens or somit to aim to win by then like i say id have bought it. Same for farcry as soon as snowdog mentioned to me there was aliens in that i thought fudge this...

I do like open ended gameplay tho as im a fan of them like elite frontier 2 and x2 reunion etc. Tho they can become boring after u played em to death.

I wouldn't let the aliens put you off playing the game. Its only the last 1/5th of the game. And the other bits are truly epic beyond belief.
 
Crysis was the best game I have played right up until the Alien ship where it suddenly became very average.

So, the first 2/3rds of the game were awesome.

COD4 graphics are good ESPECIALLY the Characters and their movements and when looking from distances which are both very major parts of the game (I have not seen much better), cleverly done

Definitely wouldn't say half. Only played it at launch and haven't been back to it, so my memory is a little fuzzy. But I'm sure it was only around 1/5 or 1/4 or the game.

Oh yea they are good, but not as good as crysis, textures in COD4 dont compare especially on buildings, plants, water etc.. Not one bit of COD4 looked better than crysis. As far as I can see whilst COD4 I was impressive with the lightting, I thought the water looked naff and some of the textures were amazingly dissapointing and I get a stupid stutter problem all the time and its more annoying than playing crysis at 25fps.

Crysis Graphics are MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better than COD4's. end of.

Got it in one there.

Some guy in my class at college was going on at me how COD4 looked better than crysis and shown me screenshots and I was like... Yea but thats not on high and he kept telling me it was when he had no proof, just a typical fanboy of cod4 coz his PC is some old ATi X700 256mb, 1gb ram Pentium 4 3Ghz which he claims is as powerfull as the PC in my sig :rolleyes:, and what a surprise he owns an xbox 360 too which crysis wont run on no wonder he trys to make out COD4 is better lol.
 
Crysis up to the Alien ship was immense. Favourite fps ever by a fair margin.
The ship bit was creepy and weird, enjoyable in a different way until it started dragging on. But the temptation of what was after it was easily enough for me to get through the ship part. Awesome game.

I will be giving COD4 a run this week, to say it has heavy competition would be an understatement. It had better be awesome.
