#justEAthings

After pulling Motor City Online i vowed to never pay for a EA game again, and looking through the list of EA games, i have not paid for one since 2001 which is nice :).

Fair enough if they are not making the money they wanted so shut it down but they could have tried to help us out by giving us someway to play the game after the servers shutdown, as it was possible to play the beta offline in the past and people just recently have managed to get some play working offline so it can be done.
A simple patch to play the game without the server would have worked back then, or even some software to run a small server.

They will never get my money, i wish more people did this it would force them to change.

EA have not had a penny from me as far as I can recall for many years. Rather give my money to the guys over at CD Projekt making Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Also square enix for deus ex mankind :)

looks a bit butthurt person with a vindictive personality who made it.

people don't realize how big they are ! they cant afford to fail.at some point they will fail though as all big companies do.

Eventually they did a good job on BF4, but there are other games that seem to have been neglected recently.
I'd like to see if they make premium for HLs worth it. I'm having my doubts.

they are hated by many but the post op did shows a image with just negative side all collected its like a daily mirror headline.

we all know they do and have made some bad mistakes but i don't think people realize the amounts of money and size EA are generate.

they are too big commercial to do what purists want like pc fps hardcore players. they are after the bigger buck to feed the massive company they are.

making the games "we pc enthusiasts really want" would have them bankrupt.

that's why they will make the games for the masses and then say in development we are listening ;). then they can cater for the major market sector to get guaranteed sales and also hoodwink pc enthusiasts just enough to get the sales off them. its win win for them.

sooner or later they'll fail and massive losses issues or bankrupt will happen.

Just FIFA alone on the consoles probably generates twice the revenue of most game publishers, and probably triple the GDP of many small countries.

So I can't ever see them going down because they know how to take advantage of the gullible.

Still doesn't mean they should make **** games for maximum profit, but I guess with the amount they make reputation is not something important to them

Meh they also re-made Syndicate, which was actually really good but no one played it because of NERD RAGE.

EA have done a LOT of good over the years, and when I worked with them they treated me very well.

The image is obviously one sided. There have been a few good things over the years. From the top of my head, I can think of the Humble Origin Bundle, which generated around $10 million for charity, and their policy on refunds in Origin (full refund for games you've downloaded and played within 24 hours, or 7 days if you haven't played them).

Also, they often give away free old games on Origin.

I've got the original Syndicate, Theme Hospital, Crusader: No Remorse, one of the Wing Commanders, Plants vs Zombies etc etc.

They are awful at some things, but they do have some people/departments that seem to actually like gaming as well as money.

He's making the point that EA is now such a large company, with so many execuitives, they can't really produce niche market indy games.

The only games they are going to churn out are big budget affairs designed to appeal to as many poeple as possible and make as much money as possible.

That means Day One DLC, Season Passes, Cuting out content to charge for it later on, cutting multiplayer servers for games that aren't really making them money any more, etc.. etc..

Its all they know how to do because its a massive company run by the shareholders who just want a return on their investment and couldn't give a **** if you think that the new battlefront game doesn't have enough of the features the old games did, as long as it makes money.

Day one DLC/season passes/premuim etc is only justified if they deliver some value to the customer. In the case of BF4, I think premium was worth it in the long run, but I'm not sure that's true of some of their other titles.

Buying premium is like funding a kickstarter, where you are putting your money up front with no real promise of worthwhile content, unless enough people also pay up.

I think in the case of Hard lines they'll find that not enough people payed for premium to fund the development of worthwhile premium content, which means their premium customers will get royally shafted. Not the best way to treat your most loyal customers.

They make games they know will get them $$$, they don't aim to make a good game..
Now it has become purely multiplayer, where they WILL charge you £60+ for an online multiplayer game you can only play online, £40 base, but without the extras you are going to be raped and raped and raped over and over unless you splash out on the extra £20 to have a half decent experience...
Multiplayer isn't a game though, it's all generic stuff we've seen for the last 10 yrs, and they focus on that because they know they can spend half the time developing it, than an ACTUAL GAME with campaigns and all..

And people will still pay that excruciating amount..

EA is destroying gaming as we know it, sorry knew it... Now you've got to be a rich ******* with money to spend, to play a game.. If you're poor, you will have a really really **** time, because you don't have the money

Tell that to Garden Warfare...

An accurate sense of reality and perspective is sorely needed within the games industry from both the companies producing the games and the customers buying them.

Some people just foam at the mouth all too quickly often for the wrong reasons.
