Really warming to these little blobs...

Very nice :)

penski, i'm going for a CA18DET (from an S13 200sx) in my Ford Anglia, at least 170bhp and ~850kg should make it fly!

The S14 200sx is a little too expensive for me right now to buy to get the SR20DET engine, but that would be very nice!

I always thought they were pretty 'chuckable' in standard form...

I remember my 1.0 K11 had fairly soft handling, running pap budget 13" (but legal) tyres probably didn't help matters. I guess with some wider profile wheels/tyres, and with a bit of stiffening it wouldn't be too bad.

I had some good fun in mine though...wasn't hard to get it sideways. Scared the **** out of myself so much that now I'm quite sensible.

Awesome

And for some odd reason, I like that 2-tone moon-disc'd one

The yellow one does it for me though, that rocks, hard.

My other half has a 1 litre K11 and it's great fun. Handling as standard is interesting, rolls like a female dog but very very easy to slide around :)

Now I want to be unoriginal and buy a K11 micra... Damned you!

Found the thread for this btw:

The P11 Primera has pretty much the same lump as an SR20 isn't it? Much cheaper to get hold of I would imagine.

tbh i would go CA18DET too :) although the SR20DET is a great engine it is prone to bottom end failure (especially if you tune it) almost as often as the k series has HGF.
looks liek an interesting project though will be looking forward to it, i keep getting tempted to buy an old relic and restore it with a few modern touches. MK1 cortina with Zetec anyone?

Actually it's the CA18DET where the big-ends go, the SR20DET isn't quite as bad.

Many put it down to the poor design of the oil pump and pickup pipe, which has both tight angles, and small bore, both of which don't help when any sludge gets caught, and it then starts off a visous circle ;)

i was tempted by an s14a last year and a huge number of them with over 70k had big end failure or knocking. i would say in the region of 10% or maybe more of the adverts i saw , thats a lot tbh :)

CA18DET is defo the engine prone to bottom end failure..

good job you didnt look for a s13 :P as once they hit about 120k if they aint been looked after..you get some horrible problems :(

I could get 400 odd miles from a 42 litre tank and that was hammering it. .

i wish i got that much out of mine, most ive managed to get is 320 out of a full tank mostly it gets high 200's which i think is crap

That gets respect. I 'get' that.
I certainly dont. I'd rather have the car that that engine was designed for with it in... probably cost less than mucking about trying to shoe horn it into a granny mobile too.

I never thought I'd see the day when Penski was pimpin k11 micras, a lot of my friends own cars on the micra sports club.
I used to own a k11 super s a few years back, its currently sitting around the block from me looking in a sorry state :(
