Kaspersky upgrade problem

Hey guys,

I recently got the Asus Rampage II extreme mobo and with it came kaspersky anti virus 7.0 which i thought would be great.

However it turns out that this version is not compatable with windows7? I'm using windows 7 pro 64 bit and installed the anti virus. The software works but the file anti virus and protective defense features fail to enable.

I did some searching about and figured that I might have to upgrade it to a newer version and transfer my Key but the newer version won't accept my key even though the key works fine on the 7.0 version and so im left with an older version which is'nt fully enabled.

Has anyone got any ideas how i can upgrade it or had the same problem and resolved it?

Thanks in advance.

There was a lad here who I believe bought a license which failed to be upgradeable. He got it sorted by it wasn't by Kaspersky themselves.

You're right though, only the very latest one will work properly with Win 7.

You could try contacting K themselves, but I think they'll only honour the version given away.

If you have a Barclays online bank account, then you can get the latest one for free.

Thanks Greenlizard0,

Hmm nope im not with Barclays.

Anyone else got some ideas coz this would be really nice if i got it sorted out plus the activation has started so my days are ticking away lol.

Thats the version i have installed mate. I think i need 2010 version which is the newest i think yet does'nt accept my code :(

Bit of a bummer, but at least it was a freebie. Have a look in the AV thread for alternatives (Kaspersky is generally recommended).

You need 2010.
If you have a valid licence you contact Kasperky with the licence key and they will give you the correct activation code. They allow you to use the most up to date version, in fact they didn;t have a viable windows 7 compatible client until well after windows 7 launch, and certian users are still completely unable to use their product due to its bloatedness and dramatic slowdown within the system.

Contact them, get the code, install 2010, see how you fare.
Whats insane is that the motherboard manufacturers are bundling 3 year old software with their motherboards. Thats a recipe for pure unadulterated win..... :(

Otherwise use MSE, which is not bloated and seems good thus far.

Sounds good hikari, by contact them do you think an e-mail or something will do or am i going to have to phone them?

Il give that a try anyway and if i still cant get it working il just use MSE.

Thanks for the advice.
