I'm not saying kebabs are bad things. I love them. Could eat a mixed chicken/donner with garlic sauce without needing to be inebriated.

I'm just saying the presence of kebabs stops the outlet being a chippy. Its a takeaway.

No you don't, you're southern ;)

Until you've eaten Whitby fish n chips you don't know fish n chips ;)

Listen to this man, he speaketh the truth, well sort of, i found a cracking chippy in harrogate on my travels, that definately has to be the best chippy in the world!

As for kebabs, i love em, but i have found the kebabs in germany are even better, they are totally different ot the ones we get here, the bread is better and the meat actually looks like meat.

Most places in the midlands are takeaways now, and they do the chicken kebab, which does look remotely healthy.

There is no why. Just trust me on this, I'm from Yorkshire, I know Fish n Chips ;)

What utter rubbish - Just coz your from Yorkshire (Leeds) that qualifies you as an expert on Fish and Chips????

Go to Grimsby then you'll know what proper fish and chips are!
Guess what - they sell kebabs in their chippys too!

They do some superb fish and chips in Derby, in fact one of the chippys in Derby won the uk's best (cant remember which one)

And incidentally they sell kebabs :D!

*edit* Whats all this talk of takaways????

So chip shops do delivery do they??????

They are all takaways in one form or another.

Thats right, well worked out (I thought I'd made it quite clear).

Grimsby aren't bad. You get a LOT of food in Grimsby chippies, but they don't touch Whitby for taste.

Then its not a chippy. I've explained this more than once. Bit slow today?

I suppose for southerners they might be good. Can't say I've tried them. I'm dubious though, they don't do anything good in Derby.

Nice one.

Who said they did?

does anyone know exactly what kind of meat it is

is it proper meat or is all the bad parts/guts put in a blender or something

I saw that You Are What You Eat programme the other day.

That bird analysed the meat and it was found that a bowl of regular dog food was better for you than a Donner Kebab!

Nice thought.

Aye, best chippy I've been to was in Grimsby, they did kebabs as well.

If its primarily fish and chips then its a chippy, regardless of what else they have on the menu.

However, if they are selling stuff like pizzas and chicken wings apart from kebabs or fish and chips, then it becomes a takeaway.

Gilly

LMAO

Sorry - i dont agree with anything your saying regarding to this.

As for slow, well - i guess we all dont jump on the Gilly bandwagon and wave our flags in the air.

YOU TAKE CHIPS HOME, SO IT BASICALLY IS A TAKEAWAY!

Does it really matter if its a chippy or a takeaway?

Best fish and chips ever = POSH FISH OXFORD

Anyone whos been there will know the truth.

Thats fine, I don't expect everyone to agree with me.

You should listen to me though ;)

[edit]Oxford? LOL. Only if there's an oxford up north that I've not heard of :p

Resorting to not only caps, but bolded and larger sized text to get your point across. Dear oh dear.

I never said a chippy wasn't a takeaway.

Again I'll say, I never said a chippy wasn't a takeaway. I was saying the places that sell kebabs aren't chippies.

The way I read it, your saying a chippy and a takeaway are different things ;)
Nice edit but not quite quick enough :p

Chippies are takeaways. Takeaways aren't necessarily chippies (as is the case with anywhere that sells kebabs)

Well, sometimes you have to get through as people are blinkered/short sighted....;)

So your saying that the very word Takeaway doest apply to a chippy if it sells kebabs??

I really cant understand your thinking on this as you "take-away" your chips, regardless of whatever they sell.

I'd agree with you if your argument consisted of something worth agreeing with.

Doesnt really matter in the big scheme of things going off elsewhere in the world does it.

Have fun ;)

I live in the hope that one day, you wont have a comeback.

Think I will die before that happens though :/

Well done, you've managed to take what I said and read it as exactly opposite of what it actually said :)

Okay I'll join this thread now and I can say I do know what I'm talking about when it comes to Fish & Chip shops, the best shops DON'T sell kebabs or burgers, normally when shops start offering a huge range of food the quality comes down.

You will find that the majority of Take-away shops that sell fish & chips use frozen fish whilst a proper chippy should only be selling fresh fish that's cut and prepared that day.
