Keeping up with the Markles

When somebody has one black parent and one white parent, why do they almost always self-identify as "black", anyhow?

I've never understood that. You would literally never find somebody with that parentage identifying as "white", but "black" seems to encompass everything bar two albino Scottish parents in a snowstorm.

Probably due to the history of the One-drop rule.

Its not everyone, just there happens to be a lot of high profile people that do.

They why respond to my question in the first place then? Its like you just love to turn threads into an absilute states whilst throwing another personal insult.

It's not an insult. It's a fact. You've proven it here with your insane ramblings that weren't even about what I'd mentioned. You literally made things up. Again. Like you do all the time.

Ive asked why people hate her and you took me up on it mate. Ill just stick you on ignore and report your posts.

Ohhh so we need proof now. Thats funny as ive been asking for exactly that for the other side of the argument.

Yes, that's generally how accusations work! You name the person you're accusing and provide proof. Otherwise it's simply he said/she said and one persons word against another. It's not even that in this case as she won't even name the accused who she claims made this, in her opinion, racist comment about her child's complexion.

I suspect the reason she doesn't want to name the person is that she has no proof regarding the alleged comment and knows she could end up in court for defamation.

I think it's disgraceful they felt they needed to publically shame Buckinghan Palace to the whole world. There was just no need.
I'm sure there are all sorts of pretty intolerable shenanigans going on in Royal circles but for her to say she didn't know what to expect is pretty unbelievable tbh. I was pretty happy for the both of them when they were getting married. Now their attitude just all seems a bit weird and vindictive.

They should have both just slinked off to live a peaceful life instead of courting the media they supposedly hate. It's the hypocrisy that raises an eyebrow and is jarring. I can totally understand that Royal life is going to be pretty onerous and restrictive and that Harry's always been a bit of a rebel.

Renounce all titles, go do your own thing, be happy. The break should have been done early and the royal wedding should never have happened IMO. Should have been a civilian, private affair.

Well this whole thread is chok full of baseless nonsense and it wasnt an issue then. Do you know the person in question hasnt been named privately? Seems to me like it has.

They dont hate the media, they hate the gutter press invading their privacy.

Because historically they were classed as black. You might only be 20% black but if you had inherited any black features you were classed legally and by society as black. Even today most people would still class someone mixed race as black. As Junglist mentioned, in the US they had the one-drop rule and later law in some Southern States. If you had just one black ancestor you were classed as black. This was in the 20th century as well.

She's American and the first thing she admits on the interview is how naive she was.

Why would an American have any clue about the inner workings of the royal family?

Clearly this is something that should have been reported to the relevant authorities privately and the royal family directly. Perhaps they already have.

The only reason to make the comment publicly is to provide publicity for their future media projects and to throw mud at the monarchy as an institution. That's why so many people are aggrieved at their blatantly PR driven political posturing.

She didn't just marry him on day one. She would have had exposure to it all for months.
Yes but she married him. Not the Queen and if it's all genuine and they are "in love" then there's certain things you have to learn to live with.

If anyone was going to ditch the royals it was Harry and we all know it. This isn't all her doing...she might have just been the trigger.

They wanted to shun their duties and do as they pleased though while still being subbed by the taxpayer for cash and protection.

When they couldn't have it all their own way they took a pop at everyone and cleared off, when the attention had died down they've come back into the limelight to stoke things up again. I'd imagen they have a big PR team coordinating the whole thing.
