Ken Block - what do you think of him?

Why all the bitterness? Bunch of internet warriors who pick apart at everything like you know/can do better.

Put the handbag down and check out the thread title. People are giving their opinions as asked. Just becauuse you don't like them no need to have a fit.

If he could do what he does in his gymkhana videos in one take I'd think he was a driving god, fact is he couldn't and he isn't. Better than many I'm sure, and certainly better than I could do but compared to most drivers in the WRC he isn't all that. As a showman he excels.

I quite like his videos on youtube, and he seems a nice enough chap whenever I've seen him on TV, so thumbs up from me.

I think he should use some Ben Klock tunes on his next vid tho... I always get these 2 mixed up! :p

I find the gymkhana videos quite entertaining, although I lost interest half way through with the last one that a colleague showed me at work.

What I wonder is just how much practice goes into each of the segments that then go to make up the whole video? I mean, I'm a pretty crap driver if I'm honest but put me on the twisty section of road that I've driven to work and back every day for the last 4 years and I can hold my own.

Youve got to have something to do after making millions of pounds! Fair play to him, he likes to entertain in his videos and hes trying to see how he goes at WRC, if I was in his position I'd probably try and do the same thing or similar.

i'd never heard of him til i was shown a youtube vid the other day..... some aspects of what he does are truly amazing and need mm perfection to work. others most could do in a car park but its those little intricacies which i find cool. :)

Of course you could.

Joshy. If you can make a video as interesting or spectacular as one of Ken Blocks gymkhana clips using footage of your drive to Tesco then I will personally saw one of my arms off and eat it :D

The problem is I think is most people are looking at it as a demonstration of skill when in reality it is more about entertainment. (and marketing)

Sure, many of us could do lots of what he is doing to some degree but none of us have a 650bhp WRC fiesta to do it in. That is half the entertainment value right there, a sick sick car taken out of it's normal WRC regulation cage and hooned about in a insane way.

I bet most people here would not have the balls to go anywhere near the limits of that car. I would LOVE a go but I can tell you now I do not posses the talent or experience in such a vehicle to do anything it is capable of except maybe it's 0-60 time...on a straight bit of track :p

If this was an un-named anonymous driver and a TV advertisement nobody would have a bad thing to say about it I bet.

Whenever I see him interviewed he seems humble not big headed.

This..

He's done a lot for extreme sports in the way of sponsorships, his company has a few hundred million $$, so he's decided to buy his way into rallying etc..

I don't follow the sport, but don't all the other drivers have a lot of experience behind them (karting etc) from a young age?

He's a good entertainer, not doing the sport any harm by releasing his videos

New team, new car and a driver with no real experience outside the US, he was never going to have a great first season. He has the ability to compete and as others have said he hardly has a big ego..

He's just the latest in a long string of fashionable celebrity drivers. I have no doubts about his driving ability, don't get me wrong, but he's that guy with the right sounding name and the right sorts of cars to impress the current crowd.

Top class business man, enjoying the trappings of making a good few dollars and enjoying himself whilst he can - what's wrong with that?????

Anyone who has the balls to do something like this is ok in my book,

Even admits going sideways at 90mph through a forest scares him, But hell he is giving it a go. If I had the money to get myself into the WRC I would be all over it! No I might not be competitive but you can at least try and get one hell of a rush.

Never seen a video where he seems really big headed and bangs on about himself being really talented, I bet he watches his fellow competitors in awe at times like the rest of us.
