Kerbal Space Program

Agreed on the lack of an end flight option.

Also has anyone noticed anything different with SAS, when I was flying a couple of rockets last night the SAS seemed almost useless, where as before it was working well.

Sas is totally different.
A) you don't get nearly as much wobble.
b) it requires electricity, not all rockets produce electricity.
C) even with sas locked you can still move it with wasdqe and it'll keep the other directions static as much as possible.

It works well, so either no power or bad design.

Are you switching too map view and checking what the ap is? Once it's reached 100km set throttle to zero, make a manoeuvre node at the ap and circularise. Then it'll tell you how long to fire for, do so you fire half before and half after the node.

Yeah, switch to map mode and looking but am still in the very formative stages tbh. Having fun trying and learning and can't wait to feel the satisfaction of getting a satellite into orbit.

Not heard of the manoeuvre node......guess I still have a hell of a lot to learn:p

Click on you projected flight path, it creates a node. You can then pull the arrows and it'll show you the delta-v you need to gain, which direction on the nav ball (blue crosshairs) and the time till the manoeuvre node, so you can time when to thrust.

Ah I was wondering what was using all the electricity.

It seem that there was a bug, which they have since fixed, which may have been the cause of the problems. After I left the game Steam did download a small KSP update.

Oh and I don't think this has been posted yet

(sorry if it has)

The Youtube vid I posted (may be on the previous page) is really helpful in getting the basics right (getting up and into a stable orbit, then getting back down safely) :).

for those of you having problems with the SAS, the 0.21.1 update should fix things.

here's the full list of fixes, the ASAS being the main one: http://kerbaldevteam.tumblr.com/post/56459591281/kerbal-space-program-0-21-1-update-patch-is-now

This bodes well for my plane with the bigger number of intakes because i was having a real problem keeping that pitched up at the correct amount, even with the ASAS engaged, to the point where i had to add some RCS fuel to control things on top of tripling the number of R8 winglets as control surfaces

So guys would you recommend it? I know I missed it on sale, but I've been tempted anyway!

I sure would, especially with the modding community out there.

Before you buy it make sure you compare the prices between the steam version and the KSP store version. because of the exchange rate I found the KSP store version to be considerably cheaper than steam when the steam version wasn't on sale

Also, with the non steam version it is a lot easier to keep two instances running at once. i have two KSP installs at the moment, one instance is the old version (0.20.2) with lots of mods, and the other is the version released yesterday (0.21.1) with considerably fewer mods on it since they havent updated yet. Anyone with experience of minecraft modding will know how useful this is. There's probably a way of doing this with seam but I don't know how myself

Anyone else experienced odd bugs on duna, not sure about other plants.
I landed fine, went to deploy solar panels and the hole thing violently span and broke everything apart. Maybe the reaction wheels are far to strong with out a massive spaceship and they need to be turned off, but then there was no ASAS attached and certainly not activated odd and annoying.

Can't say I'm fond of this update, it's getting very tedious quickly. Hopefully these are bugs and the end flight situation will be fixed.

I believe there is a link in the description on the video to a forum post where he has packaged all his mods and the ships into one package. So you could download just that and play around or have all the mods in one package :)

Does anyone have some good guides as to how to do anything? I've made a satellite following some guide, but I can't seem to get it to orbit correctly without crashing back. I was following the orbit guide to the tee, but it still ended up coming right back into earth - how do i stop this?

I have no idea what I'm doing :D

I'm still new to this as well but once you get the Apoapsis to about 70ish KM you need to burn Prograde to lift your orbit on the other side of the planet to stop yourself crashing.

hopfully this will help some of you

once AP is at 100Km throttle down to zero and coast all the way to the AP
