Kerbal Space Program

Have you seen what's been announced in 0.18

Docking with basic supply transfer
Flight planner with nodes
Big remodeling of kerbin and Moho.
New moon around Jool
A tiny asteroid in the gap between Duna and Jool
new parts including fairings

Finally will be able to build a space station and outposts, properly.

And also maybe be able to do a aircraft/space launch. If someone makes a mod to just fly the plane auto while you asscene the spaceship into orbit, before switching back. It certainly sounds like this should be doable for a mod.

Dis gon be gud! :D

This game looks really interesting. Are you guys playing beta versions - it doesn't seem to be released yet. Is there open access? Can anyone hit me up with a link?

Hi an welcome to the party.

Demo version is 13.3 @ http://www.kerbalspaceprogram.com/download.php
Paid version is 17.1 at The Store @ http://www.kerbalspaceprogram.com/kspstore/
Costing $18.

Kerbal Space Program is in active development, with new updates roughly every 2 months. But the Developers post new Blog updates nearly every day...
Lead Developers are: Harvester, NovaSilisko to name two.

The Paid version has loads of extra features well worth the small investment.
An the Demo will get you started an a feel for the game.

The game is still in heavy development.
So is buggy (I am on the Dedicated Test Team) working to eliminate them, but we cant get them all.
The game is still poorly optimized, so takes the most powerful computer you can give it, an with a big enough rocket, will cripple your computer.

Keep us posted on your voyages...

This is epic, totally just wasted most of the day. On a demo no less!
I managed to get into orbit (no way of getting down though)
Next stop the moon :D

Is it possible to land on the moon in the demo? Any helpful tips?

I've been playing through the free trial today and quite enjoying it, mainly trying to get in the largest solar orbit possible :) Next stop is to orbit the moon, that looks a lot more tricky

Great your enjoying it!
In the paid version, there is an entire solar system to explore, with roughly 15 Different orbiting bodies.
An Murs, which is a Mars analogue, so you can do your Curiousity Landings... :D

Yes, its totally possible to land on the Mun with stock parts.
Place a Grey winglet, on a decoupler, I'll leave you to figure the rest out.
PS: When landing on the Mun, make contact with the ground, with LESS than 2M/s velocity, or your techniqally Litho-Breaking...

Any more questions let us know.

Where do I start!
I'll try and figure it out, will take a look over at the dedicated forum too.
I've set myself the goal of landing on the moon, I'll buy myself the full version as my prize.

That's actually a great idea... I should have done that, because I couldn't in the demo, then I bought it and had more things to play around with, which really didn't help.

I am yet to reach the Mun :(

I'm certainly not going to be landing this time.
But i think i can at least hit it :D

edit: Goddamn you mavity! I appear to be in a rather lazy orbit of the sun now, nevermind.

One issue with Kerbal Space Program;
The physics engine can only handle ONE Body physics. ie, one planets effects the crafts orbit.
Where in real life they use N Body physics to calculate orbits.
Where the Earth, Moon, Sun an ALL the other majour bodys in space effect a crafts orbit ever so slightly.

Once you hit that transistion point (orbit rougly around the Mun) deacellerate to achieve stable orbit.
An slow further to set up a landing approach.

Few points of refferance:
Pro-Grade (Accelerate)
Retro-Grade (De-Accelerate)
Jebadiah "More Boosters"
Bill + Bob (Cowardly Pansies)

Well you have "Crash" landed on the Mun.
But I wouldn't call the mission a success, since there NOT coming home, any time ever!
Give the mission another go, just dont land so aggressively next time! ;)

The important question, how many Kerbals have you killed???

I'd rather they fixed the kraken?

Well done Remote_Zero.
Nothing beats the first Orbit + Mun landing.
Now try for the North/South Poles, there always dark, an hilly so a good challenge.

PS: As promised, I hope your for investing in the Paid version.
An entire Solar system is waiting for you to Land on.
