This is the one I purchased. Got the cheapest they sold as I rarely use a kettle.
I hope you hide it a way when not used, that thing is ugly!

Decorated with citrus fruits and golden lemons, this kettle - complete with its classic stainless steel handle, base and spout - promises to give your kitchen counters a distinctly sophisticated edge.I would say that somewhere in the £20-£30 region seems about right for a kettle.
This could be yours for a cool £499.95:

Urgh. What a waste of life. Putting things away and getting them out all the time.Mine is slightly different in that it is grey. It goes away when not in use, like everything else (I dislike things left out on my countertops).

Unless you only use it a couple of times a week, that's proper sociopathic behaviour![]()

Fair enough - infrequently used stuff in cupboards is pretty sensible.Like literally any time I have a guest that may want a cuppa, so that could be a long time!
I don't really have many other appliances, toaster and microwave are hidden in a corner. I get the slow cooker out whenever I want to use it as that is quite bulky to leave out all the time.
The appliance market in general seems to diverge horribly these days. You can get dirt cheap tat aimed at those who want to spend as little as possible and will fall apart within a year and never perform well during. Or something bloated with features that you don't want. Simple and crap or overblown and (sometimes) not crap. Either marketers don't realise there are people who just want a basic thing but in quality, or they make too much money from the market segmentation. Same all over. I've had a fifteen year old TV since I bought it because even though I'd like to get something with a superior screen (4K, HDR, higher refresh) anything with that is also usually huge and burdened with a crappy Android OS, microphones and / or built in cameras. Fridges, washing machines, anything. You really have to hunt for something that just does a single job well, these days.
doesn't seem that binary. i thought it was the element/thermostat/whatever on its way out on the first kettle but no i dunno. either every kettle i've bought has a cut-off less than boiling point or my particular mug ceramic is a total heat leacher.Surely the water either boils or it doesn't?
Was that this one (or one that looks like it):After philips refused to replace £40 kettle that failed after 2years
ok - more than 2 years .. but as harmony said - when did kettles become like throwaway fashion clothingThis is xxxxx the Customer Escalations team here at Amazon.co.uk. I hope you are well.
I'm sorry to hear of the difficulty experienced with the Philips Kettle received in April 2014 from your order Philips HD4644/00
