I have been thinking of getting one because trying to play FPS game with the gamepad makes me want to jump off of a cliff.

Anyone use one? if so what make (im assuming there are more than one brand) and are they any good?

Thanks

Actually I think there is only 1 model for the 360, it is called "XFPS" do a search in this forum for that term and you will find some threads. I don't know if any of the comments are from people who own any though? Whenever there is any talk of such adaptors console users get very negative and defensive.

Sadly it is not the kind of thing you can try before you buy, which is the only way to really judge whether this device works for you or not :(

Cheers, i read a few threads before posting, but it was just rammed with people moaning about it because its no longer balanced when you have keyboard mouse vs controllers.

I can understand to a degree, but im talking about enjoying the games in single player as much as anything else. I will play Live eventualy. But i just hate playing FPS with a controller, its so unnatural and frustrating, and i doubt i will ever get used to it because ive never played much consoles in the past and played PC FPS only.

And before anyone asks i got an xbox 360 because im tierd of watsing £100's if not £1000's on the PC to watch ported games play like crap. so £160 xbox premium will last a good 3 years i guess and the games run nice.

Well the adapter thats on the market now is and will be worse than you doing the 360 control pad 'learning curve'. Its buggy, stops working, does not do what you ask etc.

Just stick with the controller and you'll get used to it.

I know people say "you will get used to it" i really dont think i ever would. I am worried though that these device's are now good and would be a waste of money.

ummm. I just dont see why MS dont add mouse/keyboard support. Maybe one day they will.

Waste of time, practice with a pad.

Agreed, I'm first and foremost a pc gamer but it just takes practice to get use to it. It will never be as accurate as a mouse & keyboard but everyone suffers that handicap which levels the playing field.

I feared people would enter this thread moaning about it, That wasnt the point of the thread, Just wanted to know if anyone has got one and what are their opinions of it.

Thanks.

aimbot on halo3?? link or i don't believe you!

(and i don't want to see halo/halo2 aimbots)

....... http://xim360.com/?page_id=6

It is so obviously aimbot, it aims for the head 100% of the time, random & quick 180 turns, aim following perfectly when reloading, following subjects behind objects. I was an admin on several SOF2 servers for a few years (notorious for aimbot), i can spot it a mile away.

They dont work like typical mouse setups anyway, it translates mouse displacement to movement on the analogue stick rather than being a mapped grid where the mouse moves to absolute values and the aiming system follows like on a PC system.

+1

I am yet to see a self centering mouse. Just try to simulate what you would have to do to look left then then stop with a mouse on a gamepad game. You would have to conciously bring the mouse back to exactly the same position you started in order to simulate letting go of a joystick with its sprung self centre. Not as easy as you first think I reckon. Until a game is coded for mouse input I bet this is how it would work and I know this sort of thing would put me right off.

I was looking into this about 6 months ago, googled it, read loads of write up, reviews and forums and decided to abstain due to the overwhelming disappointment for the procucts available.

now I just use 360 for rock band type games and fifa etc

I stick to pc for fps and getting near 40 y/o (holy s*** thats scary) slowly growing out of both (to my kids delight lol)

Just stick with it, you will get used to it. I thought I would never get used to it when I first switched to console gaming, but I stuck with it and one day it just 'clicked' :)
