That's what I was thinking about going back to - the UI leaves a lot to be desired though.

Yeah the UI isn't great but it is functional.

Apple Passwords is really good so far for me. Basic but does what I need.
I was a bit unsure with the “all the eggs in one basket” being in the Apple ecosystem, but it does make things very simple.
I think the main thing is you have a backup of your passwords, then the issue of being locked out of Apple in extremely rare case isn’t a problem to worry about.
I have a backup on usb stick, password protected and in a lock box.

Being in the Apple ecosystem it’s difficult to move away from the passwords app as the integration is a bit better than 3rd party. For my non-Apple devices I have a self-hosted vaultwarden as I think that is best. I have to manually sync between Apple and vaultwarden as I can’t think of a secure way to do it automatically.
