KFA2 GTX 760 EX OC User Review Single Card vs SLi

I've got one of these coming tomorrow to replace my ancient 280's in sli

Might add a second one in the week depending how well it plays my current line of games.

Nice review, and hopefully things don't get too toasty in my case with two of them!

I'm sure it'll be quite the increase in performance! :)

Battlefield 3 has been added to the benchmarks with Ultra Settings and 4xMSAA

Have a look at the guru3d review and the others out there...seems to pull in very close to Titan performance at 1440p with 2 in SLi beating it in some instances.

Of course if the game/drivers support it well it should cope. Single card setup you'd certainly be better off going with the 770 or 780 at 1440p for certain as the 760 on it's own won't pull in any miracles at max settings.

It's actually not as easy a decision anymore due to how well SLi has come on and the fact it's being readily supported.

I was like you mate, just fancied a change to the Green team for while, had been a while since my last lengthy stay.

Many thanks for your input and the link. I am sorely tempted to go the Sli route wit two 760 - especially as I have not had the pleasure of Sli yet. Must admit though that I would also like to get EVGA cards as I think there warranty and service is great, but I do like the look of these cards though. Hmmm decisions, decisions. So tempting though at £420 for a pair of these.

Yeah it was the price and look of the cards that tempted me towards them.

The EVGA cards have an ACX cooler version which looks pretty cool also. However like all things EVGA they usually come at a small premium although their warranty and service is second to none I must agree.

Certainly take note of some of the other comments from fellow KFA2 owners on here, they are getting fantastic temps from their cards so the cooler not only looks good but performs fantastic. I just need to work on some extra airflow!

Great review :)

I've got an aging GTX 480 and have been pondering on a new graphics card purchase recently.

I was seriously considering a GTX 780, but now I'm not so sure?

More research needed.....

Haha, I've actually been looking at that very card tonight arc@css, seems like a pretty good deal?

Hmmm....could 770 SLi be the future then?

I have the 770 lightnings in SLI and they run amazing. Very powerful! I say with the MSI 770 gaming cards in SLI you'll be set for many years to come.

My 760 has arrived today :)

Is it a good idea to use a 280 for physx stuff, or just let the 760 do all the work?

I can't see why not mate, the 280 will be more than enough for running PhysX, takes a bit of the load off the GTX 760 which wouldn't be a bad thing at all, although what kind of power draw does the 280 have? As long as the PSU is fine there shouldn't be any issues though.

Not an expert on the PhysX side of things but unless anyone can point me to something which says differently I can't see how it wouldn't work for you.

I've got a Corsair 1000w psu, so I should be fine.

I just worry that the 280 is a pretty big card, and the space between the two won't be a lot, so i worry about temps on the 760.

I'll see it goes later when i install, just at work now :(

So long as your airflow is pretty good mate there shouldn't be an issue...my airflow on the other hand is pretty poor so I'm having to work on that a bit to bring the temps down since the 600t is just awful. :p

1000watt PSU is plenty. I have a corsair AX850 watt PSU for running my 770 lightnings in SLI and that's plenty. You'll be fine mate

Think I shall be getting 2 of the MSI GeForce GTX 760 Gaming Editions and a OCZ ZX Series 850W '80 Plus Gold' soon. Then selling my MSI GTX 670 PE for about £200 ish.

@Fanatic, tbh youd be as well off buying a secondhand gtx 670. Even with theese an 850w psu would be way overkill. Im running 670's in sli and power draw in games is only 430w at the wall. You could pick up a 670 for £200.00 ono.

I did think about getting a 2nd GTX 670. But I'd want a 2nd Power Edition like I have now, and they seem to be quite expensive. Just seems odd to pay more for an older generation card when the 760s are cheaper (£220 GTX760 GE vs £280 GTX670 PE on OcUK) and they run about the same performance. Plus I like shiny new things :).

My current PSU is a Corsair 620W that is about 5 years old. Also has only 2 PCI-E connectors and I don't want to use the molex adapters. The 850W should be pretty future proof I thought :).

Really good review jrodga2k5, had got me seriously looking towards the green side as and when I decide to take the plunge.

The only thing I will say is that whenever I see your posts, your signature rather detracts from the post itself :p

Keep up the good work :D

850w would be more than enough, i know what you mean about new prices for the older cards. I was lucky enough to pick up my second gigabyte wf on here for £210.00 a few months ago. Tbh you can add any model of 670, but i do understand how youd like one that matches your current card.

Cheers Schumi...although is that detracts or...distracts ;)

New sig coming soon anyways, needing a refresh.

Mr DPD will be bringing one of these today, can't wait, should have only really cost me £50 out of my pocket once I sell a couple of things and it's giving me hopefully about a 20+ FPS increase.
