Khan v Barrera!?

Ye just heard his interview to, but the speed of Khan is still a big factor in the match even tho Barrera says he cant feel his punches heh

Oh yeah definitely, the game plan technically was correct.

The fact the cut happened really spoiled this though as it would have been interesting to see it go the distance as Khan started to tire.

Also I think a lot of people are overlooking the fact that in the first round Barrera was probably feeling out his opponent as well but taking him down to effectively one eye did ruin any chances.

It was very apparent through the rounds that Barrera was getting more and more concerned as he was winching and trying to wipe the blood away himself and he was caught a few times.

good fight & shame about the clash of heads.
im really glad Amir Khan won..... he is a much improved fighter as most of us saw from the previous fight of his and some wouldnt see it even if he smacked them.

the way i see it...he has enough speed skill and power to match any boxer in his weight class.
he has one serious flaw though and its a big one.

He should fight Marquez or Diaz next, this fight proved nothing. He's always had quick hand speed, and in fairness Barrera didn't seem at all affected by the shots he took, just by the blood from the cut which badly obstructed his vision.

Take on Marquez or even Diaz who lost to Marquez recently. If anyone saw that fight they will know the outcome if Khan fought one of them.

Khan looks a far better fighter to me, his hands are being held up properly and he's moving in, making his shots and getting out of the way, thereby minimising the possibility of being caught.

The fight could have been stopped earlier and it was a shame that we didn't get to see an unhindered Barrera, but Khan did all that was asked, the clash of heads was accidental, but Khan looked very sharp and Roach is doing a fine job with him so far.

Here's hoping he keeps improving and all the doubters are made to eat their words.

Not really sure how anyone can say it was a good fight. First rounds between new opponents often suck as they feel each other out. Barrera's not really been a proper fighter for years now and probably has no idea how Khan fights. before the first round was over the fight was done.

Again it looked like Khan was semi rocked by that one decent punch in the last/next to last round and its about all Barrera could do. Khan's all showy with admittedly super fast hands. But the reason he's super fast is he puts in very little backswing and very little power. Where as most boxers have some follow through on their punches he seems to have none and if you actually watch closely lots of his "flurries" several of the punches don't even make contact with the arms/gloves let alone hit a rib/head.

Calzaghe does his flurries too, slower, even if theres no power he at least makes contact.

I wasn't unimpressed, he at least got his hands up, but the question that remains unanswered is against a guy whose not half blind and can hit him, will they stay up once he's taken a few punches, can he be effective defensively if people just start going to the body, can he take body shots, etc, etc.

Barrera, except the cut didn't seem to be rocked by the flurries, or the single "power" hits in the slightest but we'll never know how he might of done without the cut. IT would have been an impossible fight to judge without the cut anyway, with it, its just a joke. Other than Khan at least trying to keep his hands up theres nothing else to be taken from the fight.

You've got to love how in the promotional shots from sky Barrera is "above" Khan in the shots, while in reality standing up straight next to each other Khan dwarfs Barrera.

**** fight..basically a clash of heads in the first round caused barrera to gain a bad cut to the side of his forehead...heavy bleeding caused the ref to stop the fight...**** fight...:)

The question does not remain unanswered willie limond and prescott answered it.

Khan looked like the same Khan to me only difference was he was in against a shot fighter.Even then Khan looked wobbled once or twice.

Same thing will happen again soon as he's in there with someone even remotely decent he'll get Ko'd.

They're right above you. :).

Not haters anyway, people who rightfully doubt his ability.

You said it yourself there....

We do rightfully doubt his ability! After being knocked down by Willie Limmond who is NOT a big puncher showed everyone that if he goes in with anyone with a decent punch and gets caught he will go down.

Bredus Prescott knocked him out in under a minute....he wont fight him again that much is sure. Freddie Roach wanted him to have a rematch with Prescott but of course Warren wont let that happen since the same could easily happen again.

I dont know why people want to put him in against Marquez, that would be a step too far especially right now.

The cut didnt really allow much of a judgement last night, it did hinder Barrera despite what everyone seems to say, but Khan started impressively and continued to go about his business well but again not a good fight to judge it on.

yup, tbh I could have been far more cynical, like to mention that fact that Khan couldn't stop Barrera or seemingly even hurt him even after blood started pooring out of a nasty cut on Barrera. Despite Barrera being blind in one in he still even when he caught him flush on the left of Barrera's head when he quite literally didn't see it coming couldn't even wobble him. The fact that Khan would most likely have tired later in a fight and his hands would have dropped, his speed slowed and a experienced waiting Barrera sans cut may well have outlasted him and demolished him in the last few rounds.

Khan faught a has been, in the wrong weight class, a midget compared to him, he unloaded EVERYTHING Khan has in his arsenal and didn't come remotely close to a KO and it took a cut to stop his opponent.

In all honesty, was Khan wearing those joke oversized gloves aswell? I swear they looked about twice the size of Barrera's. The white/black made them appear a little bigger but they seemed much larger anyway.

Quote me, Khan will be one of the greatest.

:p
He is a Fly in the History of boxing & only proves One thing & that is British boxing is Full of Villains & con men, Warren being Number 1.
The British public have always been Stupid when it comes to judging a boxer but this sets new heights of stupidity.
Paying hard earned money to watch a guy that takes a punch like a Gayer Pretend to be a Pro boxer :p:p:p Last night was just Another Warren circus.
Any Talent that lad had has been ****** away by money men, It's Sad.
Anybody that thinks he will be able to obtain a LEGIT title is living in a dream world.

Lennox had a weak chin and it never stopped him doing well.

Doing well is a Long way from being One of the Greatest ;)

This quote sums Lewis up Perfectly.
Lewis will most likely go down as one of the most intelligent, calculated champions ever. But that is not what pound for pound is based on. Lennox was able to capitalize on Tyson’s jail term to reign as champion, then got out before the Klitchko brothers could undo the legacy he has manufactured for himself. He stayed an extra 4 years as an amateur to win a gold metal against younger opponents (Riddick Bowe for the medal bout). He then became champion only because Bowe gave up the title. He backed out of Tyson’s way (accepting a huge multi-million dollar payoff from Don King as payment for Tyson taking his ranking) as he was climbing back up to regain the championship that was handed to him. I believe that history will judge him for the fake that he truly is.

Greatest = Marciano, Foreman, Ali, Hagler, Archie Moore, Louis, Chavez, Roberto Duran, Jack dempsey, Marciano. Truley Great fighters, Then Now & Forever.

khan still has to prove himself....even if the fight went 10 rounds and he knocked barrera out, still dont matter he fought an ageing fighter....remember khan only needs to be hit once and he goes down...barrera does not...but we didnt get the chance to see that.....although khan does look a better fighter than before,he has improved

thing is its like hollyfield/lewis vs tyson..they beat him when he was old and finished..but they wouldnt fight him when he was in his prime would they now..cause they wouldnt have lasted 3 rounds andtyson would have ended there careers permanently, same with ali vs berbick....great boxers will fight anyone...good boxers only seem to look for people at there lowest then fight...its all about money today...i mean look at how many different belts there are.....in the old days it was light, middle, heavy so much simpler and so much better class of fighters...as time goes on nowadays fighters have gotten worse in general.....:)

This sums the whole thing up nicely.
