Kia Picanto vs Fiat Panda

According to EuroNCAP neither the Fiat Panda or the Kia Picanto is exactly outstanding in terms of safety. I believe that Dace who has actually compared both cars considers the Panda to be more comfortable ("It was a far more pleasurable experience to drive the Panda"). I very much doubt that there is any hugely significant difference between the two cars in terms of practicality and as I understand it, they cost much the same.

I would be very surprised if many people make a decision on what car to buy based entirely on cost; I am sure that there are people to whom cost is not an issue. However, for most of us mere mortals, cost is a fairly significant factor when buying a new car - even with scrappage ;)

I wasn't implying they were unsafe, was just saying there are more important factors when choosing a car than cost alone.

Dont get me wrong, cost is a very important factor to me too - thats why I ended up with an oil burning Mondeo :)

Merde! I was planning on asking for a loan :p

Rereading my initial post on which you commented, I realise that I was trying to make two specific points about Kias as a whole - that they are reliable and they are cheap to run / service.

I would have to say that the most significant downside of both cars involved here is the safety angle and that is what would concern me most.

Having said all that, I suspect that Dace has decided in favour of the Fiat Punto and I am sure that he will be very happy with his decision.

Yeah I know a few people who swear by them, the 4x4 especially.

What, the sportage? Which is constantly eating centre diffs, so much so, they have send a bulletin around to make sure dealers rotate the tyres, and recalled the ones on the large alloys to fit smaller wheels.
