Kick Off 2 - elders only

Couple of friends of mine used to rave about this all the time (especially the fact that you could get sent off), I thought it was very overrated.

That said I never played the Amiga version which was probably better...

Played kick off 2 for years and years when i was a kid practically day in day out. Made a terrible mistake though of trying it again a couple of yrs back for a laugh.

oh dear :D

very good for its time though!

Was a good game at the time, the speed of it was crazy. Dribbling was hardcore, the ball didn't actually stick to your feet...

Remember trying to pull off lobs all the time where I think you had to hit the ball and pull in the reverse direction immediatley which always made your bloke run off the other way. :o

Which one was it with the managerial side to it, that was cool. edit - (just read the thread, player manager) Never liked sensi much tbh.

Never played Amiga vers, but I had the Atari ST one.

Ahhh many a QuickShot 2 Joystick broke on the Tuesday night football club.

The plastic pitches were hard to get used to but boy you could put some aftertouch on those volleys

Quickshot 2 and Kick Off 2 here too. :D Classic Amiga game. I may have to get the Amiga out of the loft at the weekend now.

Kick Off 2 was good, but Sensible Soccer took it to another level!

We need an Amiga compilation for the PC:-

SWOS
Speedball 2
Geoff Crammomds GP
Lotus Esprit Challenge
Xenon 2
R-Type
Golden Axe

Any others?

Can't believe you missed Supercars 2 :(

Kick Off 2 was by far the best football game ever. That's a fact btw not just an opinion :D I had KO2 Extra Time and a 1mb Amiga. God I played that game a lot, and I was damn good at it too. You could go on amazing dribbles and score glorious goals.

More importantly it was the only football game where the ball didn't just stick to your player when you were dribbling, so there was a real skill in keeping control of the ball. Also the passing mode when you held down the button was excellent too. The aftertouch was superb, the overhead kicks, you could whip crosses in with aftertouch just like real football. Think it even had muddy, wet and snowy pitches too. You could also score from the half way line regularly which was pretty funny :)

Also had a lot of fun with my mates playing Sensible Soccer, but I always preferred KO2 by a mile. They were all too useless at KO2 to enjoy it. It did take some learning.

Anyone itching to play KO2 should look into amiga emulation.

p.s. Competition Pro was the best KO2 joystick I reckon.

You can play pretty much any Amiga game on the PC with an emulator like WinUAE and pretty much all the roms are available.

Remember micropose soccer and the banana shots?. I loved sensi more than kick off 2 but i must admit i played both. Kick off 2 did require more skill as i would run down the flank so many times and run the ball out of touch all the time.

Ah xenon2, a fav of mine with the bitmap brothers theme absolute class. youtube has the song on there which brings back found memories.

Speedball 2 was class also, played that constantly as i did with supercars 2. Correct me if im wrong but couldnt you drop mines so other cars would blow up?.

It also reminds me of the time id get so excited that a game had a human voice and i used to think it was so amazing and i would have been around ten then, Now even with the setup i have now i dont have any pc game that has impressed me like that did.

I think you mean the 'Bomb The Base' theme, the Bitmap Borthers were the developers. That was a great game and still play it occasionally on the Emulator.

Ahh, Kick Off and Kick Off2, the golden era of football games. They were certainly hard to master, but you could let loose some cracking swerve shots with practice.

ewww quickshot 2 for Kick Off 2?!?!

Sorry, the only joystick this should have been played with was the competition pro! :D

Still a classic game though, would be nice to see it on XBLA

***.

R.Shaw was the best thing about it, lightning fast on the right wing, but one tackle and he would be out for the game.
