** Kingdom Come : Deliverance 2 **

I hated the combat in the first one but enjoyed some of the quests and the open world nature. Is combat improved in this one to the point where it is actually remotely fun?
I've found the combat better than the first but only marginally so, its still essentially the same combat style

Is the core gameplay good enough that the game could still appeal to someone who doesn’t really give a toss about having conversations with NPCs and isn’t that interested in story-based games ?

I always go into these types of games with the best of intentions to get immersed but within half an hour I'm just skipping through conversations without a care in the world about the story.

What are you expecting to get out of it?

There are better medieval combat sims. There are better medieval survival games. There is no better medieval RPG. So if your intention is to skip the RPG part, then you may be better served elsewhere.

I'd it's a tad simpler for a M & K board for example and I was holding my own against 2 bandits from the go. However you do have to avoid being surrounded and you can get locked into some combat situations/moves where all you really want to do is leg it!

So basically if you're early in the game save immediately before tackling a camp for example and try a few approaches and wheedle out a couple of the lesser armed enemies first.

I really liked the fist one, the general feel and vibe of the world was great and it ran pretty well. However I lost interest as I couldn't get on with the combat system. I was basically **** at it so I had no real motivation to plough on. Is the combat any better (easier!) in II?
It does seem a bit easier this time, but you're expected to know the basics. I haven't got very far at all but I suspect there will be someone in at town somewhere that can train you.

Basically... look at where the opponent is holding their weapon (which side, up down left) and match it with yours. hold L2 to block (dont know mouse version) when you see the little shield in the middle of the reticle. Then time a riposte from that. It WILL click with most people. Stick with it. It does make sense.

In the first game you could generally use a mace and bonk them on the head for an easy win with a bit of defence and baiting first to set it up

But DO expect to have to level up the relevant skills to get good at anything..

One thing I would say....dont make the mistake I did by using the items from the Gold Edition of the game, the equipment it gives you near the start kind of spoiled the game for me by giving me WAY too much of a boost (I've since stopped using the items) - good armour, good clothing, high speechcraft and charisma early on at a time when you are supposed to be poor and lacking equipment and fancy clothes, so much so that it does actually alter the game quite a lot early on

Where even are those items?

just ran thru the intro cut scenes and this looks lovely.

Gonna wait til I finish stalker 2 before I tackle it properly.

I've only recently left the starting town but after a wee bit of sneaking and sticky fingers, I left town it popped up that I had been spotted stealing. No one (or the dog) spotted me so not sure why and it was only when I was back on the main road leaving the village that it appeared. Very strange. I returned to the town a bit later and was collared as a thief, yet had no stolen items on me. Failed the speech check to try and get out of it as well so ended up in the stocks :s
