** Kingdom Come : Deliverance 2 **

Booted it up for 30 mins just to test it out. When you stop with Hans to camp that seems to be a pretty demanding area. 1440p Ultra + DLSS Quality on a 3080 was netting 65-75ish in this area which feels quite choppy to me on a mouse, changed to High and framerates shot up to 110+. Seems to scale and run very well while looking amazing, a decent change from all those UE5 games that run like crap!

Now to wait until my 5080 arrives so I can try 4k DLDSR + DLSS :D

Haha, 75 FPS is choppy now? You youngins these days don’t know the meaning of hardship. ;)

My first home computer was a Spectrum 48k. And playing ELITE at about 8FPS was an amazing and unforgettable experience.

I remember the days of Atari ST and Amiga gaming when 30 FPS was unheard of. Getting 15 FPS in Microprose Gunship, them were the days.

All joking aside, I must say for me the ability to tolerate FPS as low as 45 and still find it playable has been a gift over the years.

The biggest advance for me in gaming tech in the past decade, has been VRR monitors. Decent upscaling at 4K has helped as well (yes I include FSR).

I played Crysis low 20's fps just so I could played it maxed out on my heavily overclocked 8800 GTS

I can even play 30fps. Just use a controller and pretend you are using a console. Lol. But yeah. Not done that in maybe 10 years.

Happy with 60fps these days, but I try for 90 if possible.

So you were shouting at your monitor all these years… “yes it can play crisis, you just need to lower your standards” ;)

Using a mouse in a first person game yeah 60 is very choppy to me, maybe because I use high sensitivity. When I dropped to high the game is way way more smoother like silk :D I did play WoW in 2006~ on a laptop with 20-30fps outside of raids and later games like Crysis and Metro 2033 with a ton of ini tweaks on a gt 8800 so I do know the hardships of super low framerates ;). All changed when I switched to 120hz in 2011.

I think for me 90+ is the sweet spot for mouse games, 60-70ish is fine with a controller.

Only early game, (Tavern),
has that part got different outcomes, as it seemed like whatever I did would end in the same result, not ending so well for both of us

I've seen some people chat **** on OCUK but this takes the biscuit 65-75fps choppy    Don't watch ANY movies or TV, ever, that only runs at 24fps, slide show mate :p

I really liked the fist one, the general feel and vibe of the world was great and it ran pretty well. However I lost interest as I couldn't get on with the combat system. I was basically **** at it so I had no real motivation to plough on. Is the combat any better (easier!) in II?

I'm not controlling the camera doing sharp 90/180 degree turns etc in movies/tv shows very bad comparison. The camera is panning very slowly or static for the majority of the time in movies. I think some others will agree 60 doesn't feel great with a mouse, 90+ is much better.

I'm finding the combat "better" but tbh, not by a huge amount, its still the weakest aspect of the game imo

I'm with you. Maybe it's an age thing, and that my eyes are not what they used to be. I try and aim for 50 to 60fps - so my age bracket. :)

75fps definitely isnt "choppy". However it would feel that way if it was dropping to that from 140+ fps etc.

I always set my frame limit to 72 (half my refresh rate). Often means no noticable drops, cooler temps/things not getting worked too hard, and still decent FPS.

I can understand targetting mega high fps for competitive shooters etc, but for most things, it just isnt needed.

I mean I still play star citizen at 20fps lmao

OK this game is a masterpiece and I have only played 5h of it. There I said it.

It's way way better than baldurs Gate 3 which I thought was overrated
Other way round for me currently, both are superb (too early for me to yet say exactly how good KCD2 is, I've only played 4 hours so far and it could turn into crap at 10 hours for all I know) but Baldurs Gate 3 was , for me, one of the best games I've played for a decade. KCD2 so far has been very very good indeed but too early yet for me to state its better than BG3 was for me (although they are both extremely different games anyway of course)

For reference, KCD1 sold 500K in two days, KCD2 did 1 million in one day. Good step-up.
