They just going to sit there collecting dust. What's everyone going to do - wear it around there neck at ALL times thinking they hard? While clapping for the NHS?
I like the idea of front line staff getting a medal. But it should be noting to do with the coronation. That just dilutes it and makes it more about the new king than the front line workers.
envy?
And there's that naivety coming through. What about those who deploy? They may not do something 'heroic' but they are operating in hostile environments.
These medals are for recognition for serving the Queen/King as our Commander in Chief.
Do civilians not get awards, cash, gifts for their services? The cost is high for the MOD because they're a huge organisation. NHS etc have received a decent pay rise for 'doing their job' - the military have been on a 1% rise for quite sometime as we are seen as easy targets for budget cuts and we'll 'just get on with it'. We are not expected to hear what, if any, pay rise we will get until September this year - but we have to suck it up.
You do know military personnel are humans too? Families, bills, mouths to feed etc.
Good. It's nice to see it's being given to everyone involved with the Coronation itself.More than 400,000 people are to receive a medal in recognition of their contribution to the King's Coronation. Recipients will include all police officers, ambulance workers, choristers and military personnel working at the Coronation. It will also be given to serving emergency workers, prison staff and members of the armed forces with more than five years of service as well as living recipients of the George Cross or Victoria Cross.
What about everyone else that works hard?
i know what the word means, i'm curious why the person i quoted made that claim. but you knew that.a feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else's possessions, qualities, or luck.
But you chose that life. You are free to choose any other career at any time.
I've barely gotten any pay rises. Only way was changing jobs. I'm sure that's the case for a lot of people.
NHS have gotten thier pay rise yes. We don't have enough nhs workers. And if pay doesn't come up staff levels will fall. So pay has to go up.
If military is being scaled back the same pressure isn't there I suppose. If they couldn't recruit enough people for the roles the pay would have to go up.
I'll admit I don't know the situation.
Besides, this medal is a stunt. It's not a genuine "you've done an amazing job". It's a pr thing for the monarchy.
Also. What's the pension like?
i know what the word means, i'm curious why the person i quoted made that claim. but you knew that.

not sure why this is any different?
Because it's the coronation, it's a PR stunt.
You see PR stunt, I see tradition. This is nothing new.
cool.
