Kitchen Appliances

If you move your shelf up for normal sized dinner plates, then the first level won't have enough room for stacked glasses.

The only solution is 2 dishwashers, 1 with a cutlery tray, 1 without. I miss the 2 from our last place :D

Two dishwashers?! Someone's doing well for themselves :D

I'm sure i've seen some people on here talk about 2 dishwashers before. Ultimate laziness, where you never have to empty the clean one. Just take from the clean one, use it, then put it in the dirty one. Then flip back

I’d love two dishwashers, If I was to redo my kitchen I certainly would go for 2 dishwashers.

Once one is done and all clean, you just leave the stuff in there and use it as storage and fill the other one. Saves you having to empty the dishwasher!

Just put a new kitchen in and everything is Siemens.
Prefer it to the Samsung stuff I had in my last place.

We did our kitchen & utility last year.

Washing machine - kept our "old" Samsung as still working fine
Larder fridge - Bosch. Fridge only, no ice box or freezer drawers as we have...
Freezer (under counter) - Kenwood (IIRC) We also have a big Kenwood chest freezer in the garage, so a small one utility is spot on for essentials like frozen veg
Dishwasher - Hisense. I took a free subscription to Which and their top rated dishwasher was Bosch. The Hi-sense was a few hundred cheaper and very close on the ratings. Very happy with it so far. Has a cutlery tray and I think the top basket is height adjustable but never needed / wanted to put full dinner plates on the top. Wine glasses fit fine.
Drinks fridge - Haier

Is the which subscription worth it for the reviews ?

I thought they were generally useful, though occasionally odd. I have a memory of them noting the Hisense we bought was difficult to load (or something close to that). What's difficult about pulling the door down, sliding a basket out and stacking the stuff in it?

I just looked and the current offer is £5 for a month, then cancel anytime. Read / save all the reviews in that month and cancel before you start paying full price (like I did).

Our AEG washing machine and separate tumble dryer have been solid, albeit they were only purchased 8 or so months ago. What I like about AEG when doing my research is they tend to come to market with quite innovative features, for example our tumble dryer has the ability to sense dryness inside padded items such as down jackets etc. Our washing machine has a built in water softener too, and pre-mixes the detergent with water before inserting into the drum (some just dump it in neat/hardly mixed).

I'm going to get one of their dishwashers soon, they have this cool satellite clean spray arm where the end of the arm has a spinning sprayer so it covers more area.

I know it sounds stupid to have connected white goods but the AEG app has been incredibly useful too. They redesigned the app about a month after we bought them and it's a really good quality app now. It's so easy to set the end time you want on a wash without having to calculate the delay time yourself, or it'll sync the dryer with the washer so it uses the correct programme when you start to tumble dry what you've just washed.

The only thing I miss from our washer is some sort of auto dosing ability, apparently one of the biggest reasons clothes degrade is over dosing. Just be mindful of potential downsides to auto dose which could be a) leading you locked into proprietary refills and b) I'm not sure if you can override if e.g. you wanted to use a non-bio for a wash for baby clothes but the auto dose tank has bio detergent in it?

Pretty much everything appliance wise. Washer, tumble dryer, integrated dishwasher, integrated oven, induction hob and hood, misses also likes the idea of a microwave/oven combo.

It is a mine field when looking, the more you look the more you might not as well buy anything lol.

after spending ages looking, so far the only things we actually like the look of are
Beko Pro washer + heat pump condensed tumble dryer. for the features and the energy rating, db level etc they hit the spot.
HiSense american style fridge freezer, again non plumber water/ice and just really like the style.

Here's the brands I would choose, based on my brand perception, which in turn is based on seeing recommendations and the nationality of the company, which I think tells you a lot, e.g. German or South Korean engineering skills:

Washer - LG, Bosch or Samsung

tumble dryer - LG, Bosch or Samsung

integrated dishwasher - Bosch

integrated oven - Neff or Bosch, maybe Panasonic if they do one

induction hob and hood - Pass, not sure

microwave/oven combo - Panasonic

Beko are Turkish owned and in the past the build quality has been variable. They are more of a value brand.

Hisense are relatively new on the scene and are a big Chinese company. Their products seem good value but I've never owned one. I would not expect the build quality/reliability to be as good as LG, Bosch or Samsung but they might be, so I would read a few reviews for them.

We bought a house with a dishwasher (Bosch). Took it out and stood it on the drive. Meanwhile built a cupboard in its place. Dishwasher disappeared, jobs a good one. Storage space.

I prefer washing up.

Good post, but you have to pick one brand in a kitchen for consistency.

I wouldn't buy appliances from the kitchen company. Get the model numbers and check for prices online to compare. The same for worktops, they'll likely charge you lots more than getting them done separately.

Also Zanussi is an Electrolux brand, a bit meh. Avoid AEG.

Take a look at Netflix or Siemens ideally. Take a look online or see if kitchen places have ex-demo deals.
Why avoid AEG out of interest?

Bosch dishwasher and cooker hood
AEG induction / gas hob
AEG combination microwave
AEG oven

Happy with them all. Only thing I don't like is combi microwave as the buttons are naff.

But to my knowledge AEG stuff is pretty reliable?

Would never go back from induction, but the combi hob is amazing for some dishes and wok cooking.

Last 10 years I have had a Hotpoint oven, grill and hob and still going strong except for changing light bulbs and element in the oven and the knobs on the oven went brittle with heat I guess and one or two of them needed replacing.

Also have Hotpoint tumble dryer and Hotpoint dishwasher, all been 100% reliable although I have only had those a few years.

I know there are better brands but I have had a good experience personally.
