This is the boiler that I will be covering with the tall oven unit, going to try and get another kitchen door to go over it. Also below it is the radiator that is going to be removed today

Bottom doors are painted and hung, just need to sort the handles

Tall unit is no more, look at the state of that plug. Need to run a channel down so will have to make a bit more mess of that wall

Tomorrow I getting 2 of the walls ready for painting the other 2 need channels cutting for cables and filling so will be left for a few days

Looking like you are doing a great job mate. Only thing i want to point out, is venting your boiler, double check the boiler manual about adequate air circulation. I know newer models, can't really tell how old yours is, give out less residual heat but its always good to do as much as possable ect.

Its only a year old but I will check. Its a ariston condenser

good job dude.

looking really good for the amount of money spent and it will look like new.

im just about to start my kitchen soon and was wondering what paint you used to paint the door's ?

if you could link me or message me what paint you used that would be really helpful.

Good job mate. One thing though, I would never recommend just painting the back walls of the kitchen. They will become stained and spotted from various foodstuffs easily. I reckon you should re-tile it.

Here is the paint I used - http://www.crownpaint.co.uk/help-and-advice/product/crown-cupboard-makeover-paint.htm although the colour I have is champagne. Its really easy to use, I tried using a roller at first but did not like the results what I found work best was loading the brush and working it all out until its a thin coat, once it dried I found the paint settled and looks smooth. I had to do 2 coats on these doors.

The paint I am using its wipe clean mid sheen, but I am putting a chrome or black (haven't decided yet) back splash where the hob is going, there is also going to be a edging strip (whatever is called) around the work top to stop water getting at the walls. Also I worked out it would cost £130 to tile that area and I am now putting that to re turf my lawn

Anyone answer and electrical question

7zQmk.jpg.png

This is the connection for my oven. Now it seems odd to have an oven running off a plug, but this is what its always been like.

I am thinking of getting a fuse socket (thing) and losing the plug socket and plug and wiring the oven into it direct.

Does that make sense

Regards

I take it you have an electric oven? It should really be on it's own fused cooker ring main, you aren't meant to have it running off a normal plug....

is the plug the oven or the lead coming from the bottom ?

you need to check if the plug has it's own breaker.

you might have to re-wire another plug in and run it to the breaker board and give it it's own fuse.

im quite sure a electric oven is a 30 amp fuse on the fuse board.

This switch turns the oven on and off, that is where the grey wire going into the dual socket has come from. The plug is attached to the oven (dodgy)

Been reading up and I think I need a terminal outlet box, so the oven is wired into that and from there it goes to that switch, which then goes to the fusebox, labelled oven (which was nice of them)

Yes hob is controlled by it as well, which is electric for now.

That what I was going to buy. Cool looks like im on the right track. Just need to cut some channels in the wall now :(

Some ovens will now come with a plug as the majority of the load comes from the hob rings. My dual fuel one has a mains lead for the oven and gas connection for the hob.

This is what I did when I refitted our kitchen last summer. I certainly don't miss having tiles and I do a lot of cooking. The paint does it's job remarkably well.

I found that out last night even with one coat, I was able to wipe away bolognese :) Just doesn't stick to it at all

Well its been slow progress, I am at the stage where its all the small jobs that seem to take ages. Most of the walls have had a few coats of paint, but I have had to do a lot of filling and sanding.

I wanted another socket and didn't trust the one that was wired up for the cooker so chiselled out the walls for a new cage. This took ages, I had a disk cutter but it would only go so deep, also because the kitchen is an extention I was cutting into the old outside brick. Seems they make welsh brick STRONG

After a few hours

This is a nice picture shows my new oven :) also I am really please with myself as the walls looks smooth and you can't see where the channel was cut in the wall. Still some work left to do. I filled in the old socket and am leaving the filler to set for a few days before I sand it

Once its all sanded a few more coats of paint and that wall is done.

Next is the back wall with all the dish washer and washing machine. Hopefully will get to that next week, but that will be a lot of prep work first the wall is a mess.
