Kitchens

Had a fitter round who said Howdens are running a 50% off sale in September so looking at under 2k.

Howden's have their financial year end in September so they do this every year - my fitter told me they would pretty much guarantee to undercut Wren at this stage as they're desperate for final year numbers but to be honest this just annoyed me even more about their buying process. I wanted the kitchen fitted in late October so wanted the purchase done by June at the latest so we could book our joiner in who typically had a big waiting list. If Howden's wanted the business then in my humble opinion they should have done the best price first time round - they were lucky we gave a 2nd branch an opportunity as my fitter knew them well but they themselves told me to wait two months and then come back and buy the kitchen in the sale period :o

@Freefaller

you could always get a full height 178cm fridge only unit.

Thats what we were planning with a chest freezer in the garage/utility.

Deffo bin them plinth lights, saw a few new builds recently and they had them in, proper distracting and far far too bright. they might look a little better with a diffused lens on but deffo not to my liking.

I'd also not go back to handles or high gloss haha, we've a could have doors damaged right on the handle, bnq stopped making the doors and after trying a few other white doors theyve all been a slightly different white lol :( to replace a coupla doors looks like I'm gonna have to replace them all :(

all of the newbuilds we've looked at since we're opting to upgrade the kitchen to the proper wooden painted doors, that way if owt gans wrong with them can paint em

Yep plinth lights aren't happening. Just a mock up. Led strips all the way.

We have a chest freezer in the utility room so don't need a freezer though an ice tray/box is always handy but not really important. I'll have a look at integrated fridge. We currently have a large 178cm fridge only (no freezer) and for a family of 4 that enjoys food it's handy.

I think I agree with Ad that an integrated fridge is the way to go.

Handle-less is definitely the way to go!

Consider plinth heaters as well, I think they are becoming more and more of a thing.

What are those?! Need to look it up. The plan is on having underfloor heating in this part of the house - not sure if that negates it at all?
Ah I think that is the proper solution. Plinth heaters just sit in the wasted space between your units. I think you can get legit radiating ones hooked up to central heating, or just use them as heater fans to take the chill off.

Made some tweaks. The blue is too "bright" it's not going to be that blue, but tbh was too lazy to get it changed :p

Removed spots.
Changed the centre layout, and on RHS added some shelves for cook books etc... We're going to have enough drawers and storage.
The centre island is more of a perch area and prep area. It's approximately 1500x1000 so plenty big enough.
Removed american style fridge and integrated fridge instead.
Still have the uwave but moved it out of the way next to the oven.
Simplified back wall with all same level units with wood to make a contrast.

The blue will be more of a dark "teal". The wood is just for contrast, not set on exactly what the wood pattern will be yet.

this is more the blue we're thinking of:

I know this is not to everyone's tastes, but thought I'd share it anyway as why not - it's a discussion forum, and it might give the OP some ideas :)

Whats the gap in the walkways?

You don't need more than 1000 and i think an overhang on the left hand side of the island might be nice. More useful to have some space closer to the oven too, to turn around and put trays on.
